Well, I have taken 4 different poeple for a ride and they all agree with my opinion, its piercing, very loud and gives you a headache. Thats only after 5min rides.... So I do not think it is just me.

It seems you imply drone is a part of owning a muscle car. Why do companies like Corsa market their systems as "drone free" and pay engineers to design a system to minimize drone if its "part of owning a muscle car"? Are they wasting their money?

As stated in another post, I rode in my friends '08 Vette with a Corsa Sport exhaust and I could not here ANY drone, but when you opened it up you can here a nice beastly sound (NOT DRONE). Thats what I want. It obviously can be done. I do not want to put up with a sound for 2 years and just "take it".

Everyone has their preference. My preference is throaty sound and very little drone(ideally none-Corsa?).

hey JMROD,

sounds like you still haven't found a solution (i talked to him a while back)...

i wanted to vouch for you on here, you sat in and heard the muffler delete in my car (no or very little drone) and if you are hearing something different i would definitely do what ever it takes to fix the problem. and i am sorry your car has not reacted favorably to the delete...

good luck, and keep us up to date...

if it isnt fixed in time you could bring it to the 24th meet and everyone can hear it for themselves. do you hear the sound when not moving?

How can you be sick of someone whining about something you clearly don't understand?

Drone is not a volume thing, it's a resonance thing. I am not going to explain resonance to you because I'm too lazy but suffice to say that if the frequency at which the exhaust resonates happens to fall in an RPM range in which the engine spends a lot of time it can be miserable.

Resonant frequencies can literally make people throw up... and they don't have to be loud.

Car companies spend a bunch of time and effort tuning their exhausts to avoid resonance. I'm pretty sure if any GM engineers read this forum they are laughing their asses off at people doing the muffler delete and being surprised at bad outcomes. By just blindly cutting off the mufflers you are like playing Russian roulette with drone... maybe you'll get lucky, or maybe not.

I hear it standing still. Since its a resonance frequency you do not have to be moving. Loading however makes it very loud.

I ordered Corsa. I am not gonna gamble any more money away.

I believe the throwing up part. It made me nauseous. The first ride I didnt think it was the drone but when I noticed the same feeling everytime I drove it, I finally made the connection. It makes sense why I would feel sick, if my ears are getting "shaken" up by the drone, then my inner ear is too(mechanism for balance).

At least some poeple know what I am talking about.

exhaust leak... even in cars with drone, it is not that bad.. A leak will sound like drone. Tighten header bolts, check welds... this is not normal

Its too bad this forum has these types of remarks that show the maturity of some people on here. An absolutely useless comment. If you do not have anything better to do with your time I guess comments like these make sense to some.

Just trying to share my experiences for anyones benefit. If you do not like the "whining", don't read.

I play the cello and I think I can vouch for this "drone". It's called the wolf tone for a stringed instrument. Whenever the frequency of a note matches the natural resonating frequency of a body it produces a type of noise which is like the pounding the OP might hear.

Therefore, his exhaust system may just be playing that one frequency that matches the resonating frequency of the car and produces that vibrating, pounding noise.

This noise is different from the regular cabin noise you would hear from a modified exhaust system.

The OP, from what I believe, isn't complaining about amplified cabin noise from a modified exhaust, he is complaining about natural resonance of his car which causes this vibration and pounding.

Here are a a few examples of the wolf tone for a cello:

jmrod my car has as much drone as any could , i took my 71 year old sister for a ride and she loves it its like a carnival ride to her she did not get a headache nor did she puke and i have no complaints from my kids, friends or anyone they all think its bad ass . and to me this is a high performance car forum and last i checked most camaro drivers have modded there exhaust for sound and performance. you are over exaggerating the drone sound i would bet money that you did not throw up nor get a headache you are a complainer, me and a few thousand other camaro owners paid thousands of dollars to get drone and we like it and you are raining on our parade. if you want to complain go ahead i dont care but your doing it on a public forum and i have the right to answer back, good luck with your dainty , sensitive ear, head and stomach problems maybe you need to leave the exhaust stock. or get that minivan.
