If we did have an event in the west I would DEFINITELY prefer Reno/Tahoe over Vegas. Vegas is not only expensive there's really not much to see driving-wise other than the strip. Reno/Tahoe has some gorgeous driving areas and scenery for a cruise. Much better temps too.

But I'm still voting for Topeka Kansas as a good central location for the whole country to be able to reach within a reasonable amount of time for driving.

More to follow.

Need to find out facility rentals at the locations mentioned.

Vegas is first rate track, but may be too expensive. (Anyone check?)
It's a host city, and what they do, they do very well. Hotel's are first rate and inexpensive.

Topeka seems like the middle of no where, but the west coast peeps (milk) will have a great drive thru the rockies on I-70... You'll take back that 'corn' comment LOL... Denver to Topeka is a pisser, but you could head south and see the largest ball of twine in the world Or run across I-40 with a detour and check out that big crack in the earth, what's it called, up north of Flagstaff? Grand something or other.

Texas is a good option, but would add miles for anyone in the New England states and Washington/Oregon/northern Californee.

PIR and Firebird are being considered

We are absolutely considering everything before we announce. It will probably be another month or so before we can finalize the details with whatever facility we choose. We are so much smarter about what to say and do now that we have C5F I under our belts.

We'll keep you all posted....

Again no final decision is being made. Nothing concrete. So keep the conversation going.

The Hot August Nights classic car gathering has been doing it for 25 years this year, with an estimated 10,000 cars and an estimated 800,000 visitors to all the events combined over 10 days. In other words Reno can handle it.
Thanks SSC....

Theres Reno/Fernley Raceway about 30 miles out of Reno. It has a nice new road coarse and dragstrip.

I'm changing my vote from Vegas to Reno. As previously stated, there are BEAUTIFUL drives, fair weather, and it's less expensive than Vegas. There's Tahoe, National City, and the Sierra Nevadas. Bay area is only two hours away, too.

I noticed Colorado was brought up. Bandimere is a nice facility, @5800 feet above sea-level though. Just a thought...

I'm with the others.....Reno/Tahoe over Vegas for sure. We aren't a gambling club, this is about the people and cars. That Tahoe area is gorgeous and would make for some nice driving and great pictures.

If it goes out west, I vote for Reno. Bit too far to drive, but what an awesome place to fly to and vacation. One of the world's most scenic lakes, casinos, mountains, etc. And they're still skiing at Kirkwood: http://www.kirkwood.com/pages/themountain/webcam.asp

May I suggest a rotating meet (East, Central, West). That way no section of the country is left out.
