OLMS doesn't "know" what kind of oil is in the car. SS comes with Mobil 1 (it's on the oil filler cap). Again, I just use Mobil 1. Change it when the OLMS/DIC says too. Works for me.

I wasn't talking about the SS. All of their vehicles are equipped with this system, and many of them use regular oil. If I changed it to synthetic...I'm curious if OLMS would recognize a slower degradation and reflect that.

I usually change mine around the time it says about 20% or so. I use it as just a guide and a reminder.

Even without the monitor 25k changes are fine if you use high quality synthetic.

So many "EXPERTS" Find the best oil available and use it. Yes that happens to be Amsoil. Do the research. Long drain intervals? How about 35,000 or 1 year. Scared? Do oil analysis. It is that simple. Race motors are of course different. Do oil analysis again to learn the motor and length of service no matter what oil you use. I know many folks running 9 second cars on the same oil change over 50 to 100 runs with Amsoil. Half a season, no problems. Why? Great oil, thats why. Use cheap stuff, expect cheap results. It really is that simple.

The OP probably just called it OnStar Oil Life because of that.
