Wait a minute. Are you telling me that we still don't have production headlights?

Scott, Please Have a look at the issues with what is being discussed on the production content pertaining to what looks to be the pending final version of the Rally Stripes and the GM rally stripes for Camaro. This is a problem. I did not buy a 1992 Heritage Edition because the termination point on the stripes were way too short. IMO.. Stripes for the coming roll out need to be just a bit longer to pick up the 1967-1973 heritage where the stripes first originated. Concept stripes are 100% what I want and so do many others. I will wait for Scott and the other GM Officials I have contacted to chime in. Several that I have Emailed are still at SEMA in Vegas.
Concept had the long stripes Transformer's movie car had them too. Most all of the Avatars here have photoshops of the long stripes. I ordered my car on the basis of the GM slide showing the long stripes. It sold me on the car. An extra 5 inches of stripe added to the rear of each stripe by the supplier so the stripe can be placed lower on the car- is not going to kill GM or the supplier. I suspect that It would cost more for GM to have the pieces pre cut for ease of assembly, but this should not be an issue since the cost of the stripe in the end gets passed along to the purchaser anyway. With 107 days left until production - I really doubt that it is too late, since the engineering drawings for the concept stripes obviously are finished. |

Well, we did see Ed Welburn pointing at and referencing the stripes on the silver SS in the sneak peak that was on CBS called Saving GM.
I'm sure they did a lot of thinking about it. I'm sure they counted the beans and figured it would be less costly to go the hood ending route than down the front end. I know it might be a minor amount, but everything in their eyes adds up. I know I'm not Scott and I know I'm not with GM, but I figured what the hell...I'll put in my two cents. And regardless...stripes sold you on a car? if that's the case, don't order stripes from GM or your dealer. Just hold off a bit and there WILL be an aftermarket company who will gladly make and supply thousands who wanted the full length stripes. Or, you can go the route like a few others of us are doing and just paint them. It costs a little more, but you will NEVER have to worry about anything happening to the stripes. And I feel it's not too late as well. Things seem to change as the masses speak out....RS painted to polished..."and a few other things to be announced soon."

Yep, the Concept Conv. had the long stripes and it was a one-off car. Bumblebee was another one-off (well, a couple at least) built by Saleen on a GTO chassis. And those nice photoshop avatars, so what. That doesn't mean anything. Read your open letter to Scott too......you're really going to cancel your order if they don't add 5 inches of vinyl striping. Ridiculous. Hey, the rear slots aren't open either like the concept. Doesn't that make you want to cancel your order too? I can't believe the bitching and whining lately about petty crap. Obviously there are a lot of people who weren't held enough as a baby. So, I've decided, without a golf ball washer option, an espresso machine and DirecTV, I'll be canceling my order on my 2010 Camaro. Yeah, right!! But that's about how ludicrous it sounds to say that I'll cancel if the stripes don't extend as far as YOU think they should. |

You underestimate all the steps that must be taken in order to change a feature so drastically at this point in the game, 70 COPO...You might look for different stripe designs in future MYs if that's what GM feels will garner more sales, but not this one at least.:(

You may not know this - but Part of the Camaro brand team is currently in vegas as part of the SEMA set up. They are due back on Wednesday in the AM. I find the remainder orf your post to be kind of presumptive in tone since you do no know me or why I am ordering this specific car. At any rate I will cancel the order quickly if the third generation style hood stripes make it to production. They are not my style and last time I checked the $40K was mine to spend as I wanted. If I am paying that kind of money I need to be happy with what I am getting, and nothing short of a true pedigree car will do for me. That is my business none of yours. OK? Fair enough...but he may not say due to circumstances unforeseeable. Then again, he might. But in the even he doesn't; I wanted to pipe in with an explanation that we've been told about similar issues. Same theory, different features/parts. In this case, it's striping.
Nope. I believe they're integrated into that black-plastic piece that houses/holds the wipers. |
