2 plates v. one? Double the chances to catch a criminal/stolen vehicle/etc....

It does mess up the face of nice cars, though.

NY states are made in prison paying criminals 30 cents a day so not much savings on labor costs just materials

I like my custom front plate bracket, but I would definitely rather have no front plate, just another stupid law.

Oh sure, NOW they do that - after I got my car. I'm still moving.

Hmmm...unless criminals leave stolen cars in plain view, or they drive backwards a lot, not so sure cops will be doubling their chances.

Yeah, but in CA, I believe they get minimum wage (lol). And don't forget the overpaid unionized government labor... it adds up!

Don't we pay for the plates? the cost should be built into the license and registration. And its not like they constantly need to restamp plates.....

If states that require a front plate were going to change the law, they would have done it by now.
It's now worth worring about....if a front plate is required, just put it on.

Since when is anyone really concerned about saving the state money?
How much could one plate, that is replaced every 5 years, really save?

With all the states that are going broke, couldn't they save million$ a year by getting rid of the front license plate requirement? They could have more money to burn on social programs for drug addicts and lazy people. Your Camaros would look better too

Great idea? Write your congresssman.
Any one can look up what I am going to say and they will find that it is true. In the mid 1960's our plates were made at the state prison in Walpole. One year all of the paint started peeling off of the plates. They found out that the convicts were urinating in the paint and that this caused the problem. Our government started buying the plates from a company in Ohio and went to a single license plate to save money. We keep our plates forever here and eventually the company told our state that we were not ordering enough plates for them to make money and wanted out of the deal. Our then governor, Michael Stanley Dukakis asked if they would continue supplying us if we doubled the order. They said yes and he issued an executive order in the 1980's mandating two plates per car. I have the old plate on my Camaro that has the green numbers and do not need a front plate. My other car has the new one with the red letters and requires two plates. We get a new mylar tag to update the plates every two years. you only get one tag for the rear to prevent putting one red plate on two different cars. This is our politicians at work.

Multiply the number of plates stamped per year times times cost per plate.

Answer: $ millions

May not like it, but---

the Camaro is already a cop magnet. Don't give them another excuse. Put it on. Get a simple holder and a nice SoCal vanity plate with the palm trees.
