If someone is just looking for the performance and doesn't have to have a Camaro, the Pontiac G8 GT (V8) can be had for approximately the price of a Camaro V6.

The G8 GT costs more than an SS. 31 555 vs 30 995.

The price for the G8 GT shown on the Pontiac Website - see the link in the post - is $30,745. Dealers have an ample supply of GTs, so the usual price negotiating can occur, rather than none with the Camaro. I'm suggesting selling prices not just MSRP. Also, the GT has some additional equipment the 1SS doesn't, such as remote start and automatic trans.

ISS: $30,995 + $995 Automatic = $31,990
G8 GT $30,745 + negotiating = $29,990

did you add any delivery charges to that G8 GT? because the Camaro's price includes the destination charge.

that GT price is with a $1500 incentive offer and doesn't include the $685 destination charge.

I just read this quote on "The Daily Gleaner":

"The automaker says that pre-ordering customers will be given priority during the peak demand for the car."

Unfortunately, the article (http://dailygleaner.canadaeast.com/w...article/464493) doesn't quote any source, but I thought that might put some people's mind at ease based on some of these postings.

I would hope that the pre-ordering customers would be getting the first cars that roll off the production line. Am I missing something?

I would hope so too, but there was a lot of conversation about how the first cars would be rolled out (e.g. pre-orders in the order they were ordered, dealer lot cars, dealer preference, etc).

Maybe GM is reading these posts - I think I'll stop providing pricing comparisons.

Incidentally, the dealers I visited have renewed the moronic practice of adding a dealer window sticker with added super overpriced unwanted "options". They aren’t selling many vehicles so they’ve decided to raise the prices and tick off customers – I might not buy anything.

They probably are, but I assumed it was supposed to be an October only deal and they had it set to terminate before the first monday of November or something like that.

Stopped by Pontiac dealer today - there was a new '08 GT with a sticker of $29,995. Starting tomorrow there is "supplier pricing" plus a $2,500 rebate, and if you're migrating from a non-GM brand another 1k off, so the '08 can be had for $26,100 which includes destination fee and a "dealer fee" of $400.

Salesman said that dealer additional $695 window sticker can be ignored.
