The poll has been edited to add Central US.

Keep in mind the 'Central' option wasn't even available until TAG added it later after the poll had already gathered some votes. What I see is there's 207 people who want it in the east; there's 269 people who don't.

It's kind of disappointing though to see so many wanting it convenient for them without caring about the other half of the country attending. Is it really just a matter of convenience? I thought there'd be more of a family spirit in the C5 community.

Multiple events can dilute the main event or put another way create three regional events. From what everyone tells me the best part of C5Test was the same as the best part of any national car event. The cars were cool, but the people were COOL! As much as I dislike the idea of travelling coast to coast -- time is the issues for me -- one national event that pulls in people from all over the country is an admirable goal and good for the community.

+1 I believe the same place every year is good in theory, as said before, most big events work like that. But lets face it, we WILL out grow Valdosta. This trip was the first one I've taken more than 500 miles away from home. The idea that this event could change destinations every year sounds amazing, road tripping with this car all across the country was my dream.

First round was east coast
Second round should be west coast
Third round mid west..

that would be the most fair route to go..

Having more than one per year will lower potential attendance and create division. I think attendance will still rise at the events, but it could rise so much more with one event.

Having it at the same isolated place will create division and possibly lose us members.

Having one central location would grow the show every year and even become a known event with the surrounding area and obviously any enthusiast. (College world series, bike week, etc.) Even people who don't follow it all year long would know about it.

Having it move from year to year to accomodate everyone would seperate us largely from the rest of the car enthusiasts out there. (Maybe we want to be, that's another question)

So much to think about.

I do know this: It needs to be dicided sooner rather than later.

Me? I'll be there regardless of where it is. My only real concern is keeping the C5 community intact. I've NEVER been to an event where no matter who you talked to or saw, or where you were, you felt like you belonged and everyone was as welcoming as family is. Everyone was happy to see and talk to everyone. There were no strangers at the fest. We need to keep it that way no matter how big we get.

I think there is a very strong family spirit here. C5Fest was testament to that, but by nature people are going to vote for the closest venue if it remains successful. In this case, I believe to continue to achieve an ever increasing level of success, it absolutely must include the west coast members while still supporting the east. One centrally located national event where everyone will be within a 2 day drive, somewhere (like Topeka) would fulfill that mission.

That puts it in a range such that the vast majority of Camaro5 members can make it. "Floating" national event are by definition regional. Witness the lack of California participants at C5Fest - it is just not feasible for them to attend. If next year it was out west there would be minimal east coast attendance.

Anyway, I would be roughly 1400 miles from a place like Topeka, but it is within driving distance. I am sure the mods have demographics of who attended C5Fest and other than wild people like El Diablo I will bet 95+% of people who attended were in the 2 day drive radius.

I would love Firebird in Phoenix, it is an incredible facility, but you'd probably lose 80 - 90% of the east coasters and Canada and it would split the Camaro5 members into regions. [See the attached population density map]

Camaro5 members are passionate about attending so I think that is how they are voting. We have beat this hard, but location is the single most important decision. Once the mods have made a choice, regardless of where it is, the Camaro5 members will do their best to support it. C5Fest 1 proved that.

I def. second that there should be 1 yearly event not multiples. Multiples take lots of time and effort and can cause low attendance etc.

Then again need a location that can support growth in triple digits in case that happens.
Some where mildy central would be nice, doesn't have to be smack dab in the middle bit somewhat placed so that people from all over can join and its not just 1 coast having to do multiple days drive.

yeah it is, but nothing within a few hours drive for an event.

Somewhere mid coast would work, I know Topeka, KS has been mentioned a lot but something like Kentucky? Texas (even though its south), Illinois? Oklahoma? those area bit more centralized them south Georgia... then again whatever is picked i'll still make it this next one.

I think this statement is a little inflammatory and "over the top".

We were asked to vote where we would want it, period- if we pick east then that means we are inconsiderate? Ok, so are the West Coast people being inconsiderate for wanting it out west? Or selfish for wanting a separate West Coast Camaro5Fest?

Also, of course there is a family spirit here, otherwise how would these events even get off of the ground.

It's just a poll for crying out loud and not even an official one at that.

Sorry for the rant, I just don't appreciate basically being labeled as inconsiderate.

This thread is not above closing, fyi....
Keep it clean, please.

There is no reason to get heated in here. It doesn't matter WHERE the Fest is held next, we are all a family on this site. A community brought together by the Camaro, which just so happens to mean "Friend, Pal, or Comrade". Please make an effort to represent that image.

I'm with Abygale in Alaska it would be only 12 hours instead of 6days for me. Firebird looks good to me. Still would be 3 days though. Miller Motorsport Park would be nice and Topeka would be good. Valdosta was great. The town the track everything! I just think that having it in a geographical corner of country being Cali, Jersey,Florida you are going to upset 3/4 of the people. Everyone was dying to get to the first one but i think it become just a regional event if it doesn't become more central. I know i won't be able to make it all the way to the south east again next year. Just my two cents . Thanks.

Missouri just out side KC has a drag track, and then there is the Nascar track also.

Cant get much more in the middle of the country then that.

Love the map, it really puts a perspective on the population density of the U.S. Even if it ends up central, it will still be a long stretch for the west coast. If any facility along I-10 is chosen we will be there, no problem. Like I said, we have family in San Antonio and Phoenix so it will be a great reason to visit.

I wish the decision would be made soon, it bothers me to see so many people getting upset with each other about this. Everyone knows it's going to be impossible to please everyone, and knowing that people are getting edgy and irritable.

So EVERYONE, please take a deep breath - in through the nose, out through the mouth and just relax. It's out of our hands and when the decision comes down we will all make the best of whatever the powers that be decide. (insert ZEN smiley icon here)
