As far as SS vs. Z28, the top dog Vettes are the Z06 and ZR1. This IMO is why GM is making the Z28 the top dog Camaro. Also you know what they say. Any Chevy can be an SS, only a Camaro can be a Z28.
THIS!!

Nahh interior materials are better now, people can complain but honestly compare the materials in the 2010 Camaro to materials in a 2002 Camaro, it has in fact gone up a few notches. The leather seems really nice at first but ive seen Camaros with leather with just about 10k miles or so and those seats seem to not hold up to wear and tear very well, they warp and ripple and all that real easy it seems, maybe its just me, or maybe its just that specific car i saw, who knows. But i like the seats. The dash materials could be a little softer and more appealing but im okay with it as it is. Again this is a muscle car and not meant to have many luxury components

Honestly when I am screaming down the highway the interior is the least of my concerns, I mean you don't do much admiring of the interior when your enjoying the car the way it's intended. as long as it is decent and functional I am OK with it!

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't the 5th gen win an award for interior design for a sports car? And if you say you are not buying one because of the interior just what are youlooking for? Or don't you even know. In your eyes the interior may never be good enough for you. I like the interior the way it is. I am sure GM knows what they are doing. I trust them to do a good job on the next interior!

I have not purchased a Camaro yes, but now I need to get one before the interior redo. I love the current interior and how it resembles the old 1st gen Camaro.

ahhhh NO WAY!!

I just went and put down my downpayment for 2011 this afternoon! its refundable and all but still. The only thing I dont LOVE about the 2010 Camaro is the lacklustre dash. I finally got the wife on board with the 2011 and now this.

ahhhh man. i wish this info would have came out later. now i dont know if i should wait. i would LOVE a much more modern dash. one doesnt sound like hallow plastic.

idk what to do.

We don't know if this is true...and even if it IS...we don't know exactly how "modern" the speculated refresh is. It could be just a little tweak to that flat area on the passenger side.

PLUS...IF it were true -- it's not gonna be around for another year or more...why wait? If it happens, and it's just a small tweak, you'll kick yourself.

I think you should get the car. If you have a little problem with this or that...the ownership experience will smooth it over, and you'll forget all about it.

I think I wont get my 2011 until very late July at the earliest. I about 3 hours from the plant but so many go to the states first. :(

Kudos on the interior redo.
I've wondered about GMs naming too. But with this "retro" Camaro looking like the 1960's cars, which was the higher performance badging, SS or Z28?

I bought the 1SS and had the dealer add the gauge cluster because I thought that was one of the things that gave it a more retro look. I love the interior as is (with the gauge cluster). Glad I got one when I did.

Then you would have your extreme performance variation and your refined performance variation, that i would be very happy with. =)
I would have to seconded this.

I would also be happy with the stripped down, performance version. It would help keep the cost low, thus opening the sales up to more customers, while maintaining the performance that is expected of the name.

We all have Camaro syndrome, I just suffer from the z28 strand.
