I think the packages are what sets the cars apart. If they didn't package options, which saves on production costs, then they should have just made an SS and let you customize everything from there. Most companies have a base car with less options and an upgraded version with almost all the options. We should be lucky to get any options at all - there wasn't alot of options to choose on my 98'SS. Just my 2 cents though..

Leather

Is there anyone else out there who would like there to be a leather option on the 1SS? Even though everyone will probably tell me to shell out a few thousand bucks for the 2SS, I don't have three thousand extra sitting around but would gladly drop however much it would take to get a leather option.

Leather alone is usually at least a $1K - $1.5K option. Don't take this the wrong way, but if another $1500 is gonna make or break it for you, you might wanna save up a little more cash before buying.

Oh I am not taking it the wrong way, I know how a lot of people feel about this. The money is there, but what I mean is that its an option on the midlevel Silverado LT why cant it be an option there. It just other options that will have to be cut in order to buy the 2SS. HAve to draw the line somewhere.

Cactus I feel you on this problem. I wanted the 1SS cause the 2SS has all those options that me personally I will probably never use. But I found out the 1SS doesn't have leather so I switched to the 2SS. BUT, I did start a thread with a poll attacthed for GM to see and possibly make happen for us 1SS people to get leather as an option in the 1SS...heres the link, help make it happen!

You could get the car reupholstered this will cost about the same as a leather option and you will get actual leather rear seats this way.

Wake up GM!! I for one, will be one of those people that will get the 1SS and pay "someone else" a $1000 bucks for leather seats. Way to go GM, This $1000 extra bucks could it been yours from me and every member here that wants the option but instead "Joe the Leather man" will get it.

I can see both points on this:

Bundling options is much cheaper for GM, and I'm sure we all want the costs to stay low.

On the other hand, leather is often a stand alone option, and I'm sure many people want leather without the other luxuries of the 2LT or 2SS.
