900 bucks per rim X 3 bent rims = $2700

Fine for hitting bird = $400

hmmmmmmmm

EDIT: Not to mention, judging by the pics, at least one of your tires needs to be replaced also

wow.... soooooo true!!

Heres what I would have done had it been me in my SS, 1. LEVEL it in the ground 2. go check for the bowtie printed in the bird 3. threw it in the trunk 4. had dead sandhill crane for dinner... No one would know

There's tons of sandhill cranes where I live. Never seen one dive at a car though. Sorry to hear about the damage, glad you're ok.

Tough break.

TBH there is only one animal I would make a risky swerve maneouvre for and that is a camel, have them wandering all over the place here.

Goats are more numerous but they tend to just bounce off.

I hit a pidgeon over once. looked in rearview mirror and only saw a poof of feathers. I chuckled while my gf squeeled in horror.

Haha that reminds me, on a trip with my family I was driving my grandma's van with her in the front, and my uncle and dad were behind me in his truck. Somehow a bird flew into the antenna of the van and it scared the heck out of my grandma and left a few feathers stuck to it, but when we stopped my dad said all they saw was a bird flying at the car then feathers fly everywhere. Sry if it's mean but it does make me chuckle

IMO you did the right thing trying to avoid those birds ... If you were to hit one doing 40 Mph, it would tear up your front end pretty good. These birds aren't small at all ... They weigh around 15-18 pounds, would be like hitting a turkey ... Ouch !!!
