The OP is trying to justify their lack of concern or consideration for others.

There's the set fine and then surcharges.

Surcharges? What surcharges? I believe that's called double-jeopardy, unless you're talking about court fees, which I am not. I've seen fines for 10 MPH over being at least $150 -- for just the "fine." No 'surcharges' included.

Yes that's what I'm talking about... I got a ticket a while back and the set fine was like 30 dollars but I had to pay like 50.

I'm talking just the fine itself, without court fees added in.

The speed limit ordinances have been passed by the legislature so unless he can get the supreme court to hear a case where he says the state has no right to pass a speed limit law, then the speed limit is the law of the land.

This is the same mumbo jumbo that 'constitutionalists' use to declare themselves an independent country outside the jurisdiction of the US even though they are living in the Montana mountains, or the pot-growers use to say the US has no legal right to tell them that pot is illegal.

(edit: I see a litigator posted above while I was typing this, I'd like to hear more details).
Wrong; they are civil until you reach a certain threshold, then they become criminal (in AZ anyway).

God this is a stupid thread.

If you exceed the posted speed limit, you are in violation of traffic regulations for that section of road, and thus are committing a moving violation of the criminal justice code.

That makes speeding illegal.

This really depends on the state and your lawyer's skill in the courtroom. I have a lawyer here who has, on at least 2 occasions, gotten a jury to acquit on a speeding offense due to the wording in the actual speed laws. I don't understand fully how he did it, but he did it. Luckily with me he hasn't had to take a ticket all the way to a jury trial yet.

Speeding tickets are just a way to generate revenue, and the easiest to issue. All other violations would require someone to be alert and know the laws that they enforce.

I feel like I lost brain cells reading 3 pages of this.

To the OP, go ahead and use YouTube as your legal defense and see where it gets you.

If anyone thinks this will work, I know an African Prince that wants to give me some money, but he can't get at it cause he needs to pay some bank fees. Hit me up if you want to get rich.

No, it's people who rightfully believe that the personal income tax is illegal but think that the IRS cannot use any means necessary to steal your money.
