Beta version is available for the newer vehicles. The new A6 transmission has appx. 400 parameters in it. If I am not mistaken, you cannot send a PCM to HPTuners directly. They probably sent to another shop to have the ECU tweaked on. The transmission itself has parameters to tune for torque management, plus a bunch of things, and the engine has some as well. IMO, if you don't have the proper training on the A6 transmission you can screw it up badly.Find another tuner quickly, or you will have a torn up transmission.

HPtuner doesn't actually write tunes. They have the software that you can change it yourself but, they do not write tunes for vehicles. You can learn a lot from reading on their forums but, there's no straight forward, "here's what you do and what numbers you plug in". It takes a lot of time, reading, and playing around to figure it all out. If you know what you're doing though, using hptuners is very powerful and you can change pretty much anything. Your shop didn't do their job and they gave you a line of bullshit.

I would either get your money back from that shop or make them do it right. I think what you experienced was being taken advantage of because you're a woman and stereotypically aren't supposed to know the difference about cars. You at least know enough that you got taken. Get some attitude with them and make them do it right or get your money back and go someplace where the guys aren't asshats.

I'm going there now to drop off the car. Should I just tell them to put the stock tune back on my car and then take my car to a different shop to have it tuned?

you need a new tuner. your current one isn't actually tuning your car... just pulling other people's tunes from an online database and using them on your car.

How far are you from Columbus, OH? IPS Motorsports is there, and I am very pleased with the tune they did on my car.

You did headers with no intake?

I did a CAI intake previously. Sorry I wasn't clear about that.

As mentioned, HP Tuners and EFI Live have access to hundreds of transmission parameters. Torque management can be completely scaled, along with a lot of other things like shift times, shift speeds, line pressure, etc.

Emma, I've been following your mod adventure and I recall you got the headers and cat back from IPS Motorsports. Did they do the mechanical work and tune, also?

He said the transmission is not locking in at each shift and the transmission seems to be slipping when it shifts. (That was my understanding anyway.)

Nothing said about the transmission makes sense to me... maybe he can clarify?

I say have them return to stock, get your $ back and go elsewhere. I would have NO confidence in that place anymore even if they figured out what to do now that you called them on it!

My tuner totally changed the trans tune when I was having the SC installed/dyno tuned. So the company you are dealing with is either clueless or dishonest.

I dropped the car off. They are going to give me the stock tune files on a flash drive I left with them. I took one of the shop owners for a ride and he agrees that they need to adjust it. To their credit, they did say they want to make sure I am absolutely happy with my car and they will make it right. At least if I have the stock tune files, I can then take the car elsewhere later for them to tune it.

I will pick up the car tomorrow and let you know what happens.

Thanks to all for your helpful suggestions.

I got an interesting email from the shop. I am reluctant to share it here until I get the car back tomorrow evening. Let me just say, they made some adjustments to the tune. I can't pick up my car until late tomorrow.

I want to thank all of you who have provided input. You have really helped me a lot. I will post here again tomorrow evening when I have my car back.
