Has anyone tried putting a light tube on the bottom of the door panel? can the light tube bend that easily?
has anyone place two LEDs on the same light tube, on both sides? does this make it brighter? I am considering splicing the wires and setting up two on the stock light tube and see if it makes it brighter. has anyone tried this? is there enough voltage there to light up two bulbs?

As for two lights on the light tube. Yes that has been done. It helps if you do it across the dash. I have just one LED, and it looks fine for me. You might be able to do a light tube in the bottom of the door, but you'll have to figure out how to mount it, and also sand the trim. |

This is going to be a real pain, but I'm going to see if I can locate the proper wire on the x9 connector. The other option is you can take a couple t taps off of a purple and black wire underneath your kick panel, as those usually go to the ambient light in the doors.
The X9 connector is the huge mass of wires under the steering wheel and to the right. I tested the 3 purple wires on the connector, and either I'm touching the wrong wires, or the ambient light source comes from another location. There is a purple wire in the "natural" "black" (I think) and "Pink" connectors. They all appeared to have a 12 volt constant on with no key in the ignition. So I didn't find it. Maybe one of the guys with the service manual can help. Last edited by skuttduck; 03-26-2010 at 08:20 PM. Reason: Tested the connectors |

Thanks Skuttduck, I'll have to see what I can find once things warm up a bit here in the North East.

I have come across a suitable replacement for this part.. http://www.fiberopticproducts.com/Sideglow.htm same as the digi part only more flexable, same price, but for 6ft of it in case you want to do your doors. It's coming in this week, so I'll post pics once I have it installed. |
