I don't doubt it is...but how exactly is it repairable, does a shop have to refinish the wheel?

I don't believe you guys were even thinking of the wheels while at the McDonalds drive through...

If you do that then what happens the next time you get the tires changed? Does the filler just crack and fall off?

Nope, it should work similar to the resins and epoxies they use to fill in cracks in pipes and the aluminum skins on aircraft. It'll harden and bond with the metal and if shaped right before it hardens, will shape almost exactly like the metal around it. Even the texture can be near exact as the aluminum it's in. The only problem is that it usually has to get refinished since it's coloration is nowhere near that of chrome. The color usually ranges from a dark grey/black to a purple. But after the painting/finishing you would never know from just visually looking at it that it was ever damaged.

I did the same thing to mine as well and was planning on buying a new one. Since they are repairable, does anyone know of a good place to go in Montgomery, AL? Also, how much does it cost to have this done?

Not sure in Al, look online.. most of the repair I have seen are under $200. The repair I saw was welded then machined polished and look brand new after they were finished.

Under $200 isn't as bad. I looked at gmpartsdirect.com and a new one is $360. I asked the dealer for the part number and asked them what price they has it for, $806! :0

You can get a whole set of 4 pull offs (tires & rims) for about $1200. I got a set for $800, but I was lucky.

thanks for all your input fellas. I'm just glad I didn't scrape the actual car. Glad to know it's repairable and I'll definately check around my St. Louis repair shops. STAY AWAY FROM YOUR LOCAL SONIC DRIVE THRU!! LOL

I've eaten and still eat at Sonic regularly, using both the booths and the drive through. I have yet to have a problem with damaging my car while getting food.

I was at drive thru and realized I left my wallet so decided to leave. there was a little cement thing to guide you into the lane to get your food on the right and I ran over it. completely my fault. wish it never happened tho!
