Hey guys. First time detailing my car I want to use a sealant because I heard they really bring out the CGM color and it lasts longer than a wax.

I am by no means a detailing expert.. so I was wondering if you guys could tell me the best sealant to use? Or what product you would recommend.

So far I've heard good things about klasse, meguiars, and mothers, but i have stripes so I have to be careful what I chose. Thanks in advance for any help.

just my 2 cents, for what its worth.... I have tried just about everything available in my area over the counter, with poor results. I was about to give up and order the Adams kit, when another old school Bodyman suggested a product called
"Liquid Glass". I followed the directions and three coats later, I was amazed at the gloss, depth and hardness of this product. With wax, a firm finger swipe across the paint would leave scratches/marks. After using the Liquid Glass, the same action left nothing but a smudge from the oils on my skin. No marks,no scratches, nothing!!
I washed her today (after the Warden took her on a 250 mile joy ride) and the front end was covered in bugs of all sizes. most of them just rinsed off before the actual wash. The entire car beaded very well, and it only took 1 towel to dry her off completely. (used to take three) I have never been so impressed with any of the over the counter waxes, polishes, and sealers, until I tried this product.
I will never go back to the other stuff, after what I witnessed with Liquid Glass.

Alright, since your just starting off, I'm not going to recommend anything expensive but what I am going to do is recommend you a product which produces the same results if not better results which would rival higher expensive waxes. And the name of this wax is Mcguires Next Tech 2.0. Out of all the waxes I've used this has to be one of the best. The amont of depth and clarity it gives your vehicle is ridiculous. It will make the surface of your car like a reflective mirror. It will give your vehicle a clean cut look. And this product can be bought over the counter.

I highly really recommend it. Now remember this, no matter what product you chose, its all in the prep-work to maximize your results. Prep the car correctly and your results will be miraculous. Its ALL in the preparation.

I am curious, Mr. Clutch. When you used the 2.0, what was the ambiant temp?
The reason I ask, is 2.0 was the first thing I tried on mine when I got her back in March. I ended up with a smeared, smudged mess that took me all of 4 hrs, and a dozen towels to get off of the car. I'm not knocking the product, because in hind sight, it may have been too cool and humid to apply it. I was soo furious at the time, I took the product back, and got my money back.
I have had very mediocre success with the Gold class, turtle wax, and mothers.
It just seems that anything with wax takes forever to shine up, and days later, it still smudges.
(Yes, I do like to touch her when I walk by her....I know... weird, but she IS my other woman)

I've run into that problem with polymers in cold weather before. They are a PITA to remove. That being said, I will throw my vote in for the NXT 2.0 as well. I just used it this mornign and wow..amazing. If you have a metallic paint, you owe it to yourself to try this stuff. At only $16/bottle, what do you have to lose?

I used NXT 2.0 in a 65 degree garage and it went on and wiped off very easily. Maybe the key is to clay bar the surface first to make super smooth.

The clay definitely can't hurt, but I think it's the temp. Mine wiped off easy today too, but when I've used polymers in cold weather (40 ish) then it's a whole different animal. Since he said he used his in March, I would assume it was cooler than 65, although I'm not familiar with KC weather.

I have a CGM and found this to be an excellent treatment. Start with Duragloss 652 then follow with 3 coats of 601/111. When finished with this you can top with 951 for extra gloss and protection if you like.
The results from the above on this color are amazing.

I think the temp. MUST HAVE been the main cause for failure with the 2.0
Good info to know.
Given what I've seen with the numerous OTC products, I think I'll stick with the Liquid Glass. I seems to suite my needs perfectly.

Well, I've used NXT 2.0 in the winter when it was cold enough to freeze my balls off, but as long as you apply the product correct and prep the car correctly, it should come right off. Now, in the winter, it did smear , but that shouldn't stop the removal of the product, just buff it off with some elbow grease. I recently completed a detail tonight, I used NXT 2.0 as my wax when I was done. Check out my thread in a little for the results.

In the last few days I've used Adam's products to clay bar, swirl remove, polish and wax my wife's black car and my Harley (100 anniversary gun metal pearl) and I couldn't be more pleased by the end result. Extremely easy to use and the results were perfect.
