I agree, even against those Cooper Works Editions. That being said, those Mini's are fun as hell despite not winning this drag race.

Having owned a 2006 Mini Cooper S, and currently owning a 1Lt Camaro, I'd say as long as the race was in a straight line, the Camaro takes the win. Put this in the twisties, and the Camaro is watching Cooper taillights.

The Copper Works cars are going to be a bit tougher in a straightline as well. IIRC, they are over 200hp now, and not exactly heavy. Our 06 was rated 169hp-169lb-tq, or so, and was quick as hell. I can only imagine what 200hp feels like in a Cooper, lol!!

I had a bud who had a supercharged mini coop. 200+ horsepower at the wheels. That thing was quick! Might take a v6...

I'd agree with this. Our supercharged Cooper was stock with the 169/169 ratings, and it was nasty, lol. 200 at the ground, and the Cooper might just take the win...with a manual and a good driver. The auto sucks IMHO. Our Cooper was the M6, it was a freaking go-kart on steroids!!

They're about the most fun cars out there for their price

Well, because the OP said "drag race" I'd have to go with the Camaro. The new Cooper S's turn up midish 14s with a good driver.

Having said that and having driven the new Cooper S...that is an absolutely great car and would run rings around the Camaro with some bends thrown into the mix. Probably one of the most tossable and fun cars available for that money.
