I don't think that is the issue because yesterday I programmed the new sensors while at IPS Motorsports and it seemed to find them just fine. But, it lost the programming on the way home from the shop and the lights in the dash started flashing. I was still 25 miles away from home at the time.

This is a very strange (but common) occurrence with the 2010 Camaros. I wish I knew what the issue is that causes them to lose (and regain later) the TPMS signals. Just weird stuff here. I still think it is the TPMS computer system on this car. Maybe we need to do something like pull the PCM fuse for 10 minutes, then re-fire those sensors. I'll attempt this with the local cars having the issues (both late builds).

Summary: 2010 Camaro TPMS system sucks. No consistency here, either. Some cars work fine, others drop the readings. Will's car even re-learns the sensors instantly when his drops, by pushing the reset button.

Jeanius:
So you're saying that by letting the air out VERY quickly, that seemed to do the trick? I'm going to stop by the dealer on Monday after work and see if they can use their scanner to do it. Edit: I just called the dealer. They said "no problem! stop by on Monday and we'll reprogram them for you." BTW, I've read in other threads that people with the stock wheels and sensors have pressed the "relearn" button and had the same problem we're having with after-market sensors. I'll report back here on Monday after they get reprogrammed at the dealer. Last edited by Darth_Emma; 06-18-2010 at 02:53 PM. |

My car has the same issue I got new sensors off Tony its odd because i can reset mine while I drive without leaving the drivers seat. My dash is out of the car now so I might try to remove the bulb inside the gauge cluster because its a royal pain in the ass seeing the fault light pop up.
I agree the system in the Camaro sucks I never had TPMS issues on any car other than my SS. Can there be other hardware on the Camaro that might be faulty? There has to be other parts to the system we should look into. |

My car let me program them without touching the wheels too, but it didn't assign the sensors to the correct wheels. Then, it lost the programming again.
General Motors, are you listening? |

When you press the reset button to put it in "relearn" mode, the car beeps twice. Then as you let the air out of each tire (starting with the front driver side tire), it will beep once when it has detected each sensor until you've set all 4 (going clockwise around the car). After the final tire is done, it beeps twice. Then it will indicate the pressure in all 4 wheels. Next, start driving and i about 15 minutes, the DIC will light up and tell you that you need to check your tire pressure system and the warning light will blink because it's lost it's settings. Ugh!

i feel stupid now...lol i though all you had to do was press the relearn button and that was it. I didn't know you had to go out of the car and release air until it beeps for each tire...no wonder my TPMS hasn't gone mental yet...

I read the manual and followed the steps. Mine still doesn't work. So, don't feel stupid. But, I'll be curious to see if you yours works if you try it again. Make sure you have access to an air compressor to fill the tires back up. One of mine was almost flat by the time it detected it. Jeanius said that he let the air out VERY quickly and that seemed to work for him and his system is still working ok after 2 days. |

As stated earlier, my dealer couldn't get all my sensors to activate. They told me they could get 3 of them to work, but the drivers rear was malfunctioning. So I called my wheel supplier and ordered a new sensor. Later the same day I read this thread. So I went out to my car and turned on the re-learn function on the DIC. I used my pressure gauge and started letting out air quickly (only took 10 seconds or so per wheel to get a honk) from each wheel. Started my car and no more light in the dash and all sensors are working fine. I've been driving my car for 3 days and all sensors are working. The dealership wanted $50.00 to program the sensors, but luckily they didn't charge me because they couldn't get all 4 sensors to work properly. Letting the air out quickly from each wheel worked really well with my aftermarket sensors. |
