For mot Camaro owners, the SS brakes will do the job on the track as long as you use track pads. I have used Cobalt Friction XR1 front and XR3 rear with the SS calipers and rotors. They worked very well. The CF pads are noisy. They eat rotors. They stop like you chucked an anchor out the window.
Heat is the real issue. These are two ton vehicle flying around the track at race car like speeds. There is minimal cooling air flow. Brake ducts would be a huge plus. Removing the dust shields helps some. We do NOT sell Cadillac brakes, but I do use them on our Pedders USA Camaro V-SS http://forums.peddersusa.com/showthread.php?p=5803 Shorter sessions will help. 20 minutes is too long for most systems on the car: brakes, differential, coolant, and engine oil. 15minutes is the difference between light wear and heavy wear due to excess heat. |

I will check on the dust shields and probably remove those. I am also using the Hawk HPS pads, so they aren't too rough on the rotors. I will be cutting down to about 7 laps in a session so it cuts down my run times to about 15 minutes, thanks for the input, as always. I have to say the stock SS brakes work very well on the track and I am not getting much fade at all.

At the end of the 20 minute session a couple times on the long straight..... it was at the point of "my foots at the floor and I was praying to God that I was going to slow down enough for the first corner"
It was to the point where I had to use a little engine braking to slow down enough, its all learning the limits of the car. Going 140mph on the straight and diving into the corner a little too deep is not a good combo. Its decent at the beginning of the session but not at the end.

Last time I had my car out I was running about 130 and ended up catching some air on a bump I never paid attention to at 60. But you know the car was rock solid and held the line, of course my head was in the headliner...but I held her straight.

LPE is installing a catch can on my motor. They are installing mine in a way that it will drain right back into the oil pan so there will be no need to ever empty it.
