It is different, no doubt. However, it has been the one sore spot among reviewers and owners alike. I don't hate my Camaro's interior, but I like the look of the Mustang interior better.

Even GM is taking action because of all the negative press the interior is getting by redesigning it for 2012.

Drivetrain:

1. Install 4.10 gear: ~$1,200
2. Upgrade the axles to handle 500WHP: ~$1,500
3. Upgrade all the bushing in the rear with control arms: ~$400
4. Clutch: ~$450
5. V-6 brakes: ~$500 (possible trade with a LT car)

Upgrades for the drivetrain total: $4,050 ($3,550 without brake cost)

Motor:

1. Cam kit: ~$750
2. CNC head porting: ~$750
3. Full exhaust: ~$1,650
4. TB porting: ~$150
5. Tune: ~$450 for SCT and Jannetty Racing tune

Upgrades for the motor: $2,750 (not including the mods I already had)

Total to have a car that can run consistent 11's and not brake as good as a base Mustang GT: $6,800 ($6,300 without brake cost)

Compare that to a Mustang cost to get 11's:

Drivetrain:

1. Upper and lower control arms with adjustable lower mounts: ~$400
2. Rear end girdle with axel tube brace kit: ~$200
3. Clutch: ~$450

Upgrades for the drivetrain total: $1,050

Motor:

1. CAI: ~$300
2. Full exhaust: ~$1,600
3. Tune: ~$450

Upgrades for the motor: $2,350

Total for 11 sec. Mustang: $3,400

For roughly $3K less I can meet my goals. Bear in mind I do all my own wrenching minus rear gears.

Take into account I will have a lower car payment and my insurance will be less on the Mustang. This is my motivator.
Sorry but if you think a Cold air kit and exhaust is going to take a stock 13 second car into the 11s good luck..
The Mustang is a nice looking car and I really looked at them when I was making up my mind on what I wanted but the thing still weights 3690 lbs and you have to rev it to the moon to get the HP out of the 5.0 I would think mid 12s with your upgrades and you will be much happy when you leave the track
PS: Nice looking Car I like the color

Exactly why I did not want to take this thread down this path. Too much animosity on the site here from threads of past.

The Mustang is a 12 second car all day long in the hands of a decent driver. That has been proven. There are way too many of them out there running 12s to say otherwise.

High 12s is what I see at the track around here with cold air kits.. Stock Mustangs 5.0 most are in the low 13s and he talking 11s It will take more than a cold air kit and exhaust to drop a 3700 lb car into the 11s. Most Mags that have tested the 5.0 post anywhere from 12.7s to 13.2 in the 1/4 mile that means you need to drop a full second on the car.. It can be done I'm just saying it going to take a little bit more work then whats he listing.

No animosity here.. I've had SC thunderbirds, Camaro z28s, Trans AMs and Corvettes. I love the picture of the GT 500 you got. nice car!! It's not a matter of if it is a Mustang or the Camaro, it's taking ANY car that has a factory spec. of low 13s to high 12s and thinking cold air and exhaust is going to put it into the 11s consistently is a bit much.. Look at the track results on the ZR1 or the blown SS with 600 HP it still posting times in the low 12s on a good pass. All I'm saying is I think you’re going to have to put a little more money in your stang to get it there. You may prove me wrong on that comment but I would be surprised... No matter what it does at the track.. You have two nice looking rides..

Yes I'm a hater. I will never buy a Ford, NEVER. Family has always bought GM, and the ex-wife's family was a Ford family. Another good reason to buy Chevy an never go back...
