I know what you mean about displacement. I love the sound of a big chunk of rumbling Detroit steel. Only problem is that it's hard to accomplish that in today's cars.

I'm sure it'd be something I could get used to, re; turbo/supercharger. ![]() As you inferred, todays automanufacturers are turning to turbo's and supercharging. I've never owned either. Now, if there were to be a supercharged Camaro somewhere down the line.... ![]() *disclaimer* "supercharged Camaro" is simply wishful thinkingon my part. (and let me add, seeing as you own a Cobalt SS - A teller at my bank owns a black one, and its a nice ride! I'd be happy to own one.)

Agreed. Since when did a 5.3L become a 'big V8'? Big (block) V8's started out at ~6.5L as I recall, which is where the small (block) V8's tended to end.

Don't forget too people that you can have best of both worlds now. It's just a matter of how much you want to spend, and what you want.
I've seen twincharged 4cyl (supercharger & turbo) engines... supercharger kicks in @ low RPMS, then turbo takes over for mid to top end... pros and cons to that... I've seen twin supercharged engines, such as in a SVT Lightning, and also in a Trailblazer SS... I've seen a twin supercharged & turbocharged Mustang on streetfire.net making insane power... And there's the twin turbo 427 Lingenfelter Corvette ZO6 that makes 800-1380+ HP ... And there's also a twin turbo Viper that makes 2500hp... (yes 2,500hp) .... So it just matters what you want to do and if you have the means to do it.

Don't know enough about cars to argue super/turbo, but I'm going w/ turbo. From what my friends recommeded I think I prefer turbo. Also, I don't like the whiny sound of a supercharger, reminds me of a 4cyl tuner, no offense.
But anybody want to recommend me a good brand for turbocharger - I will be looking to spend up to $10K... also, on a side-note - anybody know a good, quality shop to modify my car either near Philadelphia, or at least on the east cost? |

Supercharger sounds like a 4 cylinder tuner? You may have those confused man. Tell me, do your friends enjoy The Fast and the Furious to an unnatural degree?

I said "reminds me of a 4cyl tuner, no offense". I know this is walking of thin ice -but I don't think it sounds like a 4cyl tuner, it just reminds me of one. When I hear a high pitched sound like that, I think of a 4cyl tuner - maybe it's just me. I don't like the high pitched sound but I have nothing against superchargers, it's just my preference.
by the way - nice video wmholden |

We gotta get you in a room full of these LSx cars and let you hear the real deal....turbo or S/C ...none of it is even remotely close to anything 4cyl... I suspect you'll figure that out before you lay down the money...

alright - I believe you - but right now I'm leaning towards turbocharger. Either way we can agree on one thing, Camaro SS w/ turbo or supercharger will be bad ass!
