Seems to me a couple hundred bucks and interest grows exponentially. Couple of the guys also said they prefer a lower speed track where there is less bad likely to happen. I don't know about that though, you go the speed you are comfortable with...

Exactly, that is why they have different class: novice, intermediate, & advanced.....

I even stated this in one of my very first couple of posts.

I understand cost is an issue, but they are more than willing to spend 2 to 3 times this on things that can potentially get them into more trouble because they don't know how to properly handle the car or what their or the cars capabilities are....

At $249.99 how many people would we need to cover the event? How many would we need at $199.99?

I am not sure about the PDX event that was posted above, but generally they use locall SCCA drivers and most of them are great, and can give excellent instruction, I have done this myself. They generally agree to instruct at events like this for free track time.
The other event would have been Mid Ohio Driving instructors that teach high performance driving for a living. That is why it is mush more expensive.
They are both great ways to get good experience on the track

For the Mid-Ohio days, you have to have at least 20 people @ $400.

I am not sure that the price changes with the more you get, it just changes the amount of track time & training you get.

It wouldn't drop much because of the professional instructors. You and Rich both make valid points. We have to find a way to communicate the value to the forum members. Learning from an advanced SCCA driver is really good. Learning from a professional driver is MUCH BETTER.

We had a group of SCCA like instructors at a New Jersey track event. They were all really good so please read no disrespect into my comments. I brought in two of my professional drivers for the event. The track instructors wanted to know what their credentials were. I suggested they interview my drivers to be sure they were acceptable. I brought Stan and Chris over. They took one look at their driving suits embroidered with numerous sponsorships and said they would be fine. I said, no you should interview them. They reluctantly asked each of them about their experience level. Several of the track based instructors asked Stan and Chris is they would do a few coaching laps with them.

Learning from top rated professionals is the best way to learn, especially if you are new at this. That should put the extra cost into perspective.

Trying to make it the 13th again, and the cost is $300 NOW!
