Unhappy Anyone Know Missouri Law on...

FRONT LICENSE PLATES. For most cars this wouldnt be an issue but for the Cam I feel like it takes away from the "Stance" or "Look" of the car. Unfortunately my dealership felt the need to mount the front bracket on my synergy without checking with me first. Now if its required by law to have it in the front thats fine, but I feel the dealership should have at least given me the option to "Find another way" before riveting to nasty holes in my girls face.

Any Thoughts?

Missouri requires a front license plate. Recent legislation to get rid of them failed.

You should have told your dealer well ahead of time to not install it. I have only been pulled over once in the last year for not having mine installed.

I have had my car since Nov. I do not have the plate mounted on the bumper but, instead I have a Show-&-Go retractable mount from Swift Motorsports. I keep it retracted most of the time and have never had a problem.

If you don't mind me asking, would it be legal if the plate were on the front of the car just not on the bracket. I've seen a few mods that the front grille (lower portion)

some sort of bracket needs to be on the front bumper. in the window passes for me but a lot of people write "improperly displayed front plate."

LEO here too. As long as it is somewhere on the front and not stuck on the dash, most cops I know wouldn't care. I don't care. I still debate on whether I did the "right" thing by having my front plate bracket installed instead of a hide a way or installed in the lower grill...

Most cops aren't car people and don't know where the factory location would be anyway. You could honestly wire it to the upper grille and it would most likely get you by...

I go without and play dumb. The front plate is in my trunk and I figure I'll say I
had no place to put it if stopped. Guess a girl could get away with that.

Found my car online in Texas, negotiated the deal by email and forgot to tell them not to install the plate holder...although they knew I lived in OKLA. which does not require a front plate. Removed it and put painted plastic plugs in the holes. No ones ever mentioned noticing the plugs.

I've never had a front plate on my Z06, and never intend to. I've only been pulled over twice (both by Shrewsbury police, which is where I used to live). Both times, I told them flat out that I knew it was illegal, but I wasn't about to drill holes in the bumper of my $72,000 car to mount a plate, and informed them that the plate was behind my passenger seat. The first cop ended up standing in the pouring rain talking about Corvettes and asking me what I've had mine up to, and the second guy just said I should think about finding a bracket so I don't get hassled. Neither of them wrote me a ticket. That's the only thing I've gotten from any police in four years of ownership of the car. The Manchester police (where I live now) don't even give me a second look.

I think a lot of it depends on the mood of the cop, and your attitude as well... but the car makes a difference. Corvettes, Vipers, and things like that... they seem to let people go. Mustangs, Camaros, etc... they seem to be more strict. Either way, I just speak to the cop like a normal person and be completely honest, and they end up being reasonable. If they write me a ticket eventually, then oh well.
