So will the cloth seats have the leatherette on the sides and just cloth in the middle? Or is the cloth in the test mule more similar to production? My truck has cloth and it's cloth over the whole seat.

Cloth collects dust, feels cheap and stains easily.
Leather or leatherette... go big or go home. |

The driver's seat cloth in my truck (only 2.5yrs old) has become a lil wrinkly/stretched/distorted. Leather does pretty much the same thing so I dunno....

You have a factory warranty which should cover this if your truck is still under the allowed mileage. If it is, have them replace it quickly as this shouldn't of happen at all to the cloth, but may actually be a result of the foam cushioning inside the seat breaking down. Anyways, check it out with your dealer ASAP!

Can you post a picture here so that I can see what you mean by damage. All trim defects are covered by the base warranty ( 3 yr / 36,000 miles I believe in the US ) and should be repaired free of charge. Perhaps, your seat cushion has simply come loose and needs a simple adjustment?

WOW ! Kind of like your seat has become pregnant... or is suffering from a bad case of gas! No, but seriously, it almost looks as if the foam underneath is somehow backing up ( balloning ) when the seatback is in the upright position. I'd be interested in knowing if this still happens when the seatback is fully reclined?? My best guess from your pictures is that the cloth material is fine, but somehow the foam ( even if in perfect condition visually ) seems to be loose at the backend and may require an adhesive agent to be applied or a slight trimming to make it stay down. If it is only the fabric that is "humped" and the foam remains flat, then it shouldn't take too much to have it pulled or stretched then refastened inorder to eliminate the bump that you're encountering here. Basically, Yes... it very well should be covered under your basic GM warranty as a "trim defect" and I would state this to your service advisor when you take it in. Your pictures do not show any abuse or exterior damage which would be grounds for the dealership or GM itself to void the warranty, however, if you argue the point that you only have 20,000 miles or so on it... that is has been well looked after... and also indicate that you are very displeased with the apparent lack of quality which the seat trim is showing, I'm pretty sure your dealership will come up with a solution to make you happy. AKA No money out of your pocket to fix it and make you happy to continue to be a loyal customer of theirs! Be firm, but don't get mad at your dealership if they start to indicate that it might not be covered,... just tell them you would like to speak directly with the GM adjuster who determines whether GM will warranty or not. This is what I did when I had the problem with the leatherette shrinking on my Buick ( showed open spaces around side seatback airbags ) and after a bit of "bitching" to the GM adjuster, he finally agreed to have the seat redone to my satisfaction. Anyways, I hope this helps you and look forward to hearing on how it goes! |
