And do sticks (modern ones) actually make one leg bigger than the other? (I can see the flames coming at me form a mile away for that one)
in my 78 i has a 3-spd on the floor, the tranny was geared so that i could use 2nd kinda like an auto on base anyway, my 70 pickup has a 3-on-the-tree, no power steering, no power brakes. and the clutch on it was a beast, driving from IL to SC twice made me never want to drive it again cus my leg was so strained. however newer cars have hydraulic clutches and are a lot easier to drive

The only dislike....it sux in heavy traffic. I drove in about and 1 1/2 hours of bumper to bumper traffic in Austin w/ nothing but stop and go. THAT SUCKS. And that is the ONLY reason I wouldn't buy a 6spd.
tho rowing thru gears is fun and dandy, just remember "if you cant find it, grind it!" lol but seriously, if you have never driven a car with paddle shift, go out and do it, its great to be able to decide exactly where and when you want to shift and also eliminating the time it takes to row your boat. a perfect example is driving thru mountains/autocross style roads, you can keep both hands on the wheel for control and still shift when you want. plus when it comes to racing, inclines, stop and go, autos win hands down.

Is the Camaro confirmed to have a paddle shift? It may be quicker, but I just like the classic way. And I would say that auto's may be better off road and drag racing, but road racing?

I wonder the same things...I was surfing Corvette Forums the other day, and one person asked, how quickly can I shift from 6th down to 3rd (I assume for highway passing)...the replys all said the same thing, as quick as you can tap the paddles 3 times... I'm having a REALLY tough time deciding on which I want.

Maybe we could continue this discussion in a tranny thread - just cause of what this one was actually meant for.

Hmm, since this is the only thread that I know of that has talked extensively about a midengined vette, I would like to share some recent thoughts I've had on the matter. In North America, Corvette is part of Chevrolet. However, I think they are their own entity in Europe and Japan. THAT means that there can be both a mid engine supercar and a classic front engined vette, in the same year, with corvette badging. Call them the Corvette, the Z06, and EAW (Euro Ass Whooper, what else would a mid engined vette be?)

Resented Idol....that the "americans" finally did something Euro-style, and wiped the floor with them...God, imagine a Z06 MR. That could take on the Enzo, and have a chance, hell, the current FR has a chance - but still.

Whatever they do, GM is a different company now, I trust them - they just better not call it a Corvette. Call it a...a...Corvello, or a Cor-blimey I don't know, just don't call it Vette.

Yeah, but I figure those have all been taken. Corvair, and Chevette ran thru my mind. Plus, when ever those Euros see one (if they ignore our advise and make one), they'll stare and say "Cor Blimey", or something loud and obnoxious in German so why not name it accordingly?

Corblimey
Heilige Scheiße (holy $hit)

ladies and gents we don't have to dream the September 07 issue of Car and Driver has a KIT car made by www.factory5racing.com called the GTM someone put a Z06 engine in it.

amazing car for about $60,000 I don't think anyone can touch it for the money!
