Camaro VS Mustang Mega Thread

I didn't read the article but from reading this thread am I to understand only ONE TENTH of a second separated the two?

Well first off we now that these guys can drive unlike Car and Driver. Sencond of the 2011 Camaro SS and V6 are almost no different. 2011 SS gets hud and new color and the V6 did not change at all not one bit.

If you drive a challenger your a slower but still look good
If you drive a mustang, your mom needs it back before 10

2010= Camaro
2011= Mustang
2012= Camaro
2013= Mustang

Yes we all know the Mustang is better in every aspect than the Camaro this year just like the Camaro was better than the Mustang in every aspect last year. It just switchs and Dodge does not contend. Sure look at a new engine but what is this? Gasp the price goes up when its already 10k more and slower when its the GT500 competitor not the SS or GT just like in the old days.

Your statement should be considered complimentary to Asian engineers and companies, who had the balls to produce engines that really breathe. Without them, American companies wouldn't even be trying to compete.

In 1967, Ford and Cosworth developed the extremely successful DFV, 4 valve V8. Was it also rice? That engine dominated Formula One from 1969 to 1973.
The rice was trying to catch up - and did. Now that Ford is producing a well engineered 4 valve V8 in mass, all I can say is, it's about time. I've dreamed and waited half my life for production American stuff this cool.

I have owned both and I am not convinced of that. I think that both cars have their defining attributes. I think they are pretty damn equal. The Camaro has features I like more than the Mustang and vice verse. If I could afford to have both and the GT500 I would.

You now what I mean though... In the eyes of the Magazine testers. I do like how the Mustang has that glass roof though. I would like one of those since Rally stripes don't touch the roof.

Understood. I personally, along with many members here, don't care for the mag. reviews. They should be taken as entertainment only. I much more enjoy real owner reviews.

Actually the test drivers at Car & Driver have been turning out the best times so far on a few car. One being my 2011 GT500 clocking 0-60 in 4.1 beating their best 2010 Corvette Gran Sport time and my friends 09 WRX 0-60 in 4.7.

Ive been die hard Camaro fan ever since the 96 SS and if memory serves me right all the big car mags have ALWAYS favored the more powerful Camaro all up until 4 months ago when the new 5.0L came out.

I have the v6 Camaro, same engine as the Mustang 6 and Mustang v8(minus direct injection) with more hp/cu in then an LS3, but I guess we are rice to. Oh well.

i remember the camaro out performing most cars in the comparos only to lose the overall comparison because the editors thought the camaro "looked too mean." take these magazines with a grain of salt, they're in the business of selling you a story
