Have to turn off onstar

Had the car for 5 days. Two more calls to my car from bill collectors or telemarketers today to my car for whoever had the number before my car. I have no use for anything that they offer.

Onstar SUCKS!!!! I once asked for turn by turn to the county fairgrounds for a car show. I thought I was within a mile and Blondestar took me 5 miles out of the way. I asked someone at a gas station and was actually within a half mile.

Yikes... glad I got a new car. You should be able to contact On-Star and ask for a new number.

No calls on my Onstar at all. No problems other then the turn by turn was useless the few times I tried. But, would keep for emergencies like crashes, or car troubles, lock out, etc.
Cost is low enough to justify the expense IMO

Turn by turn is sooooo much better than NAV on a radio or smart phone. Use it regularly and it has never failed. Absolutely the killer app for OnStar. Just simply call someone up and give them an address and you are all set. And the best part is you can describe what you want and they'll look it up. I'm trying to get to such and such golf course in somewhereville. No problem, they look it up and download the address.

Simply awesome.

But I would just call OnStar and ask them what to do. They may have a very easy solution. They are not trying to sell you a sevice where you are inconvenienced. But again, it isn't really OnStar.........it a cell phone with a phone number that happens to be your car. So if you were getting texts or calls on your cell phone, would you blame Verizon or ATT?

Off topic, but Number 3, that Vette right there above me is the best damn looking Corvette since the 63-67 coupe design (IMO the absolute best designed car of all time)!

I guess I never understood the point of turn-by-turn but I guess I just navigate well.. As for the phone thing, get the # changed. Just let them know you are getting telemarketer calls etc for some previous owner of that #. I havent received calls on mine at all.
I dont plan to use onstar for any purpose other than emergency response/theft recovery.

I figure bluetooth is how I use the phone.
I know where I am going.
It serves no purpose at all if your car is stolen. It will be in a metal building before you know the car is gone.
I dont lock my keys in the car.

Turning it off.

Mine works fine, but to expensive, stand alone GPS that moves from car to car is cheaper.
Camaro Onstar still has a hard time hearing me while the car is moving, so that's not fun.
Next Model year needs a in dash GPS like all the newer cars.
