I'm having a similar dilemma, but mine involves buying an LT/RS or saving for the SS/RS convertible (assuming it is produced!).

Fastfret7, I don't understand why you're asking this question. You have a 454 Camino and a Focus SVT, which I'm sure is pretty quick, but not the up to the 454's power. So, you already have a more realistic feel for the difference between quick and very quick, which is basically the LT vs. the SS, than any of us could explain to you.

If it's the money, then you already know the answer to that better than any of us could advise having no idea what your financial situation is.

I don't know. Maybe you're looking for SS support to sway you to it against you better judgement. If so, again, you already know the answer.

I ordered the 2SS/RS and I think the V8 will get better gas milage than people think it will. I had a 98 SS and I got close to 30 on the interstate - ls1 though but still. I'm looking forward to finding out though, it just may not be the best gas milage right away with my foot heavy on the pedal.

Good advise. I'm just being questioned by the girl about how I have too many cars already, that I'll get speeding tickets with the SS, and that my insurance is going to be high for the SS. Ummm.... I was just thinking out loud. Plus, I already have a 454 SS El-Camino that eats my gas money. I sticking with the 2SS/RS.... Thanks

I'm an ass man myself....

And I'm getting the V6 because I'm not sure I could even handle 422hp responsibly (I used to get speeding tickets in a Cavalier for pete's sake).

If you plan on using your Camaro as your everyday car like me and you live in a high-traffic area, I recommend the V6. It's a head-turner with PLENTY of power and excellent fuel-mileage.

I had a choice to make too : bigger tits or a V8...

I got the V8 and I'm going to name her BooBs!

It should have the same overall effect.

Cyndi,

You're beautiful right now. You'll be much more appealing in your new SS/RS! Big breasts go bad anyway, the Camaro is forever.

Nice choices; IOM is out of this world. SS/RS Wait...MANUAL trans? omg.

The SS is more than just speed, it has a lot of improved areas on it. The SS will have much better resell value as well; V6's will be commonplace.

Don't make a decision you're going to regret and definitely don't let gas prices tell you what to do since the difference won't be huge. You only live once.

i simply don't need the V8. I'm not planning on taking the car to the track or racing it etc. I'll be using it as my daily driver and do some traveling on the weekend. for that purpose the V6 will be plenty of fun.

but hey, whatever makes you happy right? I've you wanna get the V8 I say "good choice, enjoy the car!"

A well maintained V6 or V8 will both retain their retail value equally. This is the first 5th gens afterall.

And who cares of a car is "commonplace"? It's not it's going to be as common as Camry or Accord or even a Mustang.

The most "commonplace" Camaro will probably an LS or 1LT. 2LT/RS and 2SS will be less commonplace.

If someone is buying a car for THEM and then it won't matter anyway. Personalize it. And I'm gonna love pulling up to fellow Camaro owners.

Same here. This will be my one and only car and 300hp is PLENTY of power for that. And the 27mpg is icing on the cake.

I hope you're not holding your breath waiting for the convertible. By the time the politicians get done gutting GM they will only be producing the Volt and a hybrid mini van. As of this morning the Republicans now say they will not pass the loan bill becasue it does not give them enough control over the "restructuring" they feel needs to be severe enough to allow the company to survive. To restructure means to eliminate costs. I'd guess that eliminating the cost of producing a convertible version of a "nitche" car that will not sell a huge number of units falls within their defination.

"One bird in the hand is worth two in the bush". Buy a coupe now while there is still a chance that it will be made. Its second year could be in jeopardy thanks to our congress and the rich guys on Wall Street. It won't be the fault of the guys at GM who have been doing such a great job on this project.
