The LS3 Camaro will easily do over 160mph (with the speed limiter removed). My guess is it will do around 170-175mph (stock - with limiter removed if it has a limiter).

I easily got my 05 M6 GTO up to 165mph (speed limiter removed). I've also gone 160mph in my 06 A4 GTO. It also had a lot more in it, but I backed off.

Heck, I went 155mph in my LT1 Camaro with only 275hp.

I don't know if you're serious or not, but it is very, very, VERY difficult to get a car to 252 MPH. You could have 5000 HP, but without the proper aerodynamics that the Veyron has, you'd still have trouble going over 200 mph. The aerodynamics the Veyron has is so advanced, the Camaro has nothing compared to it. It would be like hitting a brick wall, and the car could go no faster.

that's DG for ya! i'd say 200's a stretch, but 175-180 would be close on a stock engine. they got the SRT8 Challenger up to 175 & it weighs a bit more than this, so that's my guess.

The magic 200 mph is possible in the SS but I think you would need about 600+ hp to achieve it , a supercharger would do the trick with the Camaro having 6 gears the last and final drive should easily pull to 200+ mph with enough HP , but then were would one be able to go that fast to test it , the Bonneville speedway of course

airborn automobiles....yep...airborn.

My GTO calcs to 185mph.....but I would be an IDIOT to try it.
There are videos on the net of cars at 175mph going completely airborn on flat road.

I love life too much to play like that.

Drag racing is as far as I go.

Assuming that the tires aren't shredding and the car isn't developing lift, its a matter of power and air resistance. The Veryon has a Cd that varies from about 0.36 to 0.41, the extra drag comes from active aerodynamic aides help to keep it stable at speed. It also has a fairly small cross section.

Anyways, here goes the calcs for the Camaro
V=52.36*((hp/(Cd*A))^(1/3))
rearranging for hp

hp=(V/52.36)^3)*Cd*A

V=252
Cd=0.35
A=29 ft^2 (this is way too high, should be closer to 23 ft^2, but I kept it high for this)

hp=((252/52.36)^3)*0.35*29
hp=1132

figuring in the loss from the drivetrain, that requires around 1331 at the crank.

Lets say that modifications were required to increase downforce and that results in a Cd of 0.42, thats 1600 at the crank required. So I was off when I guestimated. Its been a few months since I ran the numbers on the Camaro. As for where I got my 500 hp at 3600 rpm . . . thats the power needed to accelerate from ~185 mph in 6th gear. Its actually closer to 450. Sorry for misleading you.

Now don't flame me if this is not so, people that know tuning, I was just told this. It may be a rumor that my dealer is trying to install fear with.
Believe it. If you pop a motor, messing with the tune will be evident. If not to the service department, certainly to the field engineer examining your warranty claim or the law firm pursuing the suits generated by your LSR attempt on a highway. Do you think they are going to be looking harder at big ticket warranty claims with a suspect feel to them in the current economic climate???

Cobalt SS and Corvette are aero limited.

that's why you buy another ECU box to tune & if something happens... put the stock one back in before you have it looked at.

ummm ... what i meant to say was you're better off leaving your vehicle stock til the warranty runs out

No need. You can flash GM PCMs back to stock. A few of my friends have.

Are the factory settings stored in some sort of internal memory? Or do you need the stock ECM info?
