The 2012 Z/28 will without a doubt outperform the 2011 Shelby.

The question you should ask is will the 2012 Z/28 outperform the 2012 Shelby.

If the 2012 does not outperform the 2011 Shelby then its really just a failure on GM's part.

Good question... This thread =

I wouldn't though personally. Might as well go SS and add mods, if that were the case.

+1!

I would be seriously taken aback and shocked if our hallowed Z28 doesn't eat brand new ponies and spit them out the tailpipe.

I would still want one, but would feel it necessary then to mod the Z in some way so that it DOES beat a stock Shelby 'stang. That would cost extra $$ and irritate me.

For the record, I expect not to be irritated.

Performance issues aside, I really do think the Mustangs look nice... very nice.

Nice makes me puke.

I want a fierce, sexy beast that strikes fear into the hearts of pedestrians. That would be the Z28.

Honestly, if the z28 doesn't make as much as the GMPP blower blower kit for the SS I will be shocked. Why in the world would anyone buy the z28 if it makes less? I think we're going to see the z28 as EXACTLY that blower kit with suspension and brake upgrades along with cosmetic changes. I can't see why GM would even offer the kit if the LSA powered z28 was on the way. It's cheaper for GM to just use the ls3 with the blower than the LSA and it makes comparable power and they warranty it.

1. Anything less than out performing would be a huge if not epic failure for GM. 2. GM's V8 engines are 10x better in both quality and performance than Fords & always have been. 3. The tests against the GT500 now should explain enough, especially considering the Z28 isn't due out for another year at least. 4. Most important the Z28 WILL out perform the GT500, no questions asked.

I don't think this will be an issue. So I can't vote...

That said. I've wanted to own a Z28 forever. So, yes....even if it were slower than an SS...I would buy a Z28.

But it ain't gonna happen.

I could have bought a 2SS when they first came out, but saw the motor trend rendering of the Z28 and was hooked! I have kept my fingers crossed ever since. Ed Welburn said it was coming and that was good enough for me. I have a deposit at a dealership for their first Z28 when it becomes available. The car will have at least 550HP, 6 piston Brembos and will look totally vicious. Someone else will always have a faster car. But ask yourself this question: When you wake up at 3:00AM and open your garage door, what do you want to see looking back at you? For me, it is a Z/28 !

Totally agree. I'm waiting to see what the Z28 comes with. If it doesn't out perform the GT500 from the factory. I'll supercharge my SS.

Still my dream for the Z and would buy it if slower than the GT500. At the same time with the performance numbers so close it will turn out to be a driver's race (at the track of course).

Off topic... what is the deal with that video clip, what is that from?
