Hello!
|
Interesting responses...
I'll repost a couple things already said: Why pay $1K more for 26 less HP Did you see the speeds of each gear on page 1? If so...can't see how you are hitting the rev limit on the streets! If you tune out AFM and add mods...know your warranty is gone Tap shifting is not "manually" shifting the car! The best one...are you a driver or passenger? |

This is turning into another one of those runaway treads. :fighting0040:
Anyway my A6 is no slouch but it took some mods (headers, cai and tune) to get there. I think the M6 is probably the better car if you want to keep it stock. |

Not gonna lie, there are times I regret not getting the manual. The AFM, the torque management (which to be fair they found a way to put in the manual cars too), the drone, etc. that come with the auto suck. I take solice in the fact that I was always gona mod and void the warranty anyway so a thousand bucks more (which I didn't wind up paying anyway) did get me 26 hp less but it also got me VVT and a broader torque curve and the greater potential for future power then the LS3. autos are more consistant, and durable for drag racing which is why racers even back in the "old days" would predominantly use them. I just dont like the idea that with a manual you have to choose between double clutching and being slower so your tranny survives or power shifting and being fast and putting "thousands of miles" on the internals every time you go down the strip.

Because the L99 makes more power under the curve. The LS3 just peaks higher after ~5700 rpm.

If you were getting a V6, I would say go ahead on the Automatic. Fastest times for the V6 on the 1/4mile track have been won by automatics.
But if you are getting a V8, do NOT get the automatic. You are getting a L99 Engine, where as the manual offers a LS3. LS3 is more powerful. If I could own both V8 and V6, i'd get a V8 Manual and a V6 auto. V8 for sporty, and speed... V6 for Daily driver, cruising

I've got the M6 and love it. No problems with the fuel cutoff if you pay attention and know when to shift. My previous car was a Trailblazer SS and I hated it being automatic. I like being able to choose the right gear for the right situation, not letting the computer blindly decide. It comes down to how involved you want to be in the driving experience.
