1962Mark, I live in richmond, but travel to indy often. I plan to use the ******** box and t harness. I have the same JL sub and amp. I do have the BA system and hope it is adequate, I do have a new set of Infinity Kappa Perfect door speakers and 6x9's, and a JL amp I had thought about swapping out with the BA system, but not sure it would sound better. I have a couple other upgrades before i complete the sytem but hopefully soon.

Took about 2hrs to install and there was a faint butyl-like smell in the trunk for the first 48hrs but went away after that, even on hot sunny days.
Did the same thing! +1 great deal.....

if you dont want to pull up your carpet and do the whole car - at least do the trunk and when you replace your door speakers, do the doors. Do the outside skin, deflector pad behind the speaker, inner skin, seal up as many holes as you can between the inside and outside of the car... it will REALLY help midbass and make the transition blend between your mids and your subs WAY more seamless and pleasant sounding.

I often wonder about whether its worth it to deaden the trunk if you fire your subs into the cab directly, but my guess is that it will slightly kill some road noise and that alone makes it worth doing.

So I ordered my materials yesterday, plan to install the stuff next weekend. My question now is the fastners that hold the top cloth piece to the trunk lid and similar fastners. What is the best way to remove those with out damaging them or is it easier to just replace them with new? If so where can you buy those?

If you replace them from the dealer, they are $3.45 ea. If your are careful you can use a claw hammer to pull them out, or you can spend a couple of bucks and buy the tool to remove them from a shop. Both ways they will get damaged, its just a matter of how bad and if you are still willing to reuse them.

You won't be sorry. I did from the seats back last winter and I'm doing year and doing the front half soon. Your maro will gain a few pounds though and the installation is a chore. Check out Ramm Audio's Ramm mat and it will save you some change.

Edit - Installed deadening from the seats back last winter and I did the front doors with new sound system install this summer. Unless you have a lot of time on your hands the front deck may not be worth it. I had the seats and console out during the install and decided to stop short of ripping the front carpet out for deadening.

Guys you may want to look into a company called B-Quiet. They sell a line of sound deanening products. I used them in my competition car for years with no problems. They seem to have a fair price for the quality. IF I ever decide to put a good system in my camaro this is the stuff I'll be using...

I just put about 5 square feet of Second Skin Damplifier Pro down in my trunk. I had it left over from a previous project. I didn't go crazy, I just did the area under the factory trunk carpet (I didn't pull any of the trunk's side panels off). I also got the area in the spare tire well where the battery is. I focused only on the areas that "rang" the loudest when I knocked them.

The areas that seemed to "ring" the loudest were the areas that lined up with the insulation that the factory applied to the bottom of the trunk carpet. Most of those places sounded like knocking on the side of an aluminum trailer. The areas where the car had structural elements welded to them gave a much better "thud".

It did a good job cutting down on road and tire noise with just that small amount. I'm definitely glad I did this. All in all, solid results for 5 sq ft and little effort. Eventually I'm going to sound deaden the whole car, but for now this did the trick.
