Yeah, I've got to say that, having owned my own business, I have to side with Ford here. If your rear end went south, etc I would be singing a different tune but the truth of the matter is you just can't expect a manufacturer to replace wear items on a car you are arguably subjecting to the n'th degree of it's intended use.

I love firearms, particularly the 1911, but if I regularly shoot hot loads through one I know and expect that the factory is going to expect me to assume more of the responsibility for wear and tear than they might otherwise....it's just common sense.

If these companies let the consumer decide what parts should always last to the expected service interval no matter how the vehicle is treated they would go broke I assure you. I largely blame this on the modern 'the customer is always right' philosophy that effectively insinuates everything should be 100% bullet-proof now matter how it's used and, if it isn't, the manufacturer should replace it.

Frankly that is a ridiculous argument and if things were designed in that manner you couldn't afford them. Manufacturers only bought into that philosophy because they believed the positive effect of the marketing would outweigh the expense created by returns and repairs, largely because they believed that most folks wouldn't abuse the component and that, even if they did, they would forget about the warranty, sell the part/item before they needed the warranty, etc, etc.

Now manufacturers are backing away from the 'guaranteed no matter what' ethos because it was bankrupting them.

Do you really think it would have been any different? Cadillac went through the same thing with the CTS-V only the part was the rear differential and I have seen more than one denied warranty claim on the Z06 for this reason. The reality is if you want to play they expect that you understand you will have to pay, particularly as it comes to regular wear items even if they fail prematurely.

I learned this with firearms years ago after personally becoming disenchanted with a couple of manufacturers who didn't resolve situations as I thought they should. My tune changed after owning my own business and discovering that virtually every other manufacturer would have more or less handled the situation in the same manner.

If you jump from Ford to Chevy for this..I think you may be sorely surprised when a Chevy dealer/etc does the same thing.

If you buy a Camaro, mod it up, break something and take it in for a repair..expect the same thing.

I think the general consensus is you were expecting something that is out of the ordinary and shouldn't expect it in the future. Whether you're right or wrong however, it is not Ford's fault, it is your stealership.

Yeah, I plan on doing business elsewhere in the future depending on how they go about these final steps. I thought dealing with the small dealership was going to be a benefit but in the end I had more success with the large one in the past.

Just remember that you are currently driving a car that will run mid 11's easily with your current bolt-ons. Stepping into a 13.0 second car of any brand will be a big step down for you.......

I have to agree with others that the position Ford and its dealers took was predictable given the circumstances (it was a clutch.... on a modded car... with 10K miles).

I would expect the same from any manufacturer. Honestly, I wouldn't have even wasted my time TRYING to get warranty coverage for that...

I also think you should consider counting to 10 and chilling before trading one very nice car for another that may lead down the same path and be less satisfying to drive. Determine the best way to address your clutch issue, and move on. You'll lose lots more money trading the car.

Hmm...hotspots on the stock clutch, hotspots on the Mcleod, both with low miles...Mcleod can't find an issue with the clutch...Wonder what the connecting factor is here...

Seriously though, if a clutch is enough to break your bank and turn you off on a car, you are so far in the wrong hobby it's not even funny.

Agreed and everyone responding to him is just feeding his desire to justify his side.

I would recommend no responses moving forward so this can die a needed death.
