I wanted a v8 and just is not in the books right now as I'm too young to afford the car and insurance, the v6 does pull hard and is quite the car for the price, if you can afford an v8 id say go for it, otherwise the six is a lot faster then the old 3800's, although the 3800's are 10x more mod-able then our current v6's but I'm sure that will change when development comes in the next few years. All that said i love my car, but I'll always wish it was an 8, but better to have a decently fast beautiful camaro then no camaro at all. That and if you have v8's already it wont be as bad, I have an 87 Monte Carlo SS with an v8 so it makes it less painful

And also to be honest, if you are going to get a six get a 1LT with the rs package and convince and connectivity package, adding all the nice interior panels, fog lights, wheels and tires, hid headlights, gauge pack, blue tooth, usb/ipod support, spoiler will cost you more to add later then to just get it now, as i am finding out lol.

The 99 Z28 also was a a 13 second car stock vs the 2010 V6 which is a mid to upper 14 second car stock... So in actuality the 99 Z28 is going to be a lot faster and sit you back a lot harder...

now... all that being said... the 2010 V6 is, yes, a blast!
I can help here also. I have the V6 and as daily driver is great and fun to rev up. I also have 98 z28 and no there is no comparison here. Our LS1's were underrated by 40 or so hp, actual net was 340-350 and torque was 350-360 net. Chevy we all guessed didn't want the vette overshadowed by the camaro so kept numbers down but dynos all showed average of 290-300 at the wheels for 98-99's m6's and 270-285 for auto.
Where you might feel its close is on the street.Do you remember how our cars felt slow and didn't feel like it had the get up and go the old LT1's did because they seemed to have more bottom end grunt it seemed? Difference was our cars ls1 had a torque curve as flat as a pond and wide as a river. not peaky These v6's are kinda the same in that regard and like to rev up high to 6-7000 rpm so you will "feel" kinda like the ls1 but will be able to rev higher. It will be a fun street car.

Anybody here regret buying a V6 and wished they'd would have waited for a SS?

Your 99 Z is a 13.8-13.9 sec car, MT just got 14.2 with a 2010 Synergy Green v6.

Really very close ...

I have the cheapest V6 camaro its called the LS and the price for a new one is 24,000 + tax and the other add ons. So used?
You could probably get a good deal on one. Then you can customizie it the way you want to.

If you're getting a V6 this is totally the way to go. I purchased a 1LT RS with C&C package and it was really quite reasonable. I managed to find a dealer who had one set aside as a dealer "show car" and drove it between lots and to events. It had miles on it, but it was very well kept.

Due to the mileage on it, I still got it "as new" with the warranty starting at the odometer reading at the time of purchase and they even threw in the LoJack they had already installed on the car all for about 2500 off MSRP. It was a great deal, imo.

Anywho....adding a spoiler and getting replica stock 20's or 21's, HIDs, foglights, RS tailights, spoiler, USB/Aux, leather steering wheel and shifter is probably gonna cost you more aftermarket.

Just my .02

Thanks guys for all the info I greatly appreciate it and prolly will go ahead and get a V6 if I buy a Camaro. Would love to have a SS but don't wanna spend the extra money on one. Can somebody post some pictures of the interior of a ls vs the 1lt rs package.

Thanks,
DwDrummer

A 1LT/RS is not going to be much different than an LS interior. Adding the C&C package will get you the leather wrapper steering wheel. A full on 2LT will get you the acrylic door and dash panels with ambient lighting along with the center dash guages, and leather.

I have a 94 3.4 V-6 manual and my Daughter had a 98 3.8 with auto plus I have a 2010 1LT auto. The 2010 is a much quicker better handling car than the 4th generation V-6's and just seems more refined. The fifth generations have a superior ride and I think the front seat passengers have more room. I'm really glad I bought my 2010. I bought the 19" polished wheels with Pirelli tires and auto which listed for $26445. Only option I would have added was the connectivity package. I personally prefer cloth over leather seats and I'm very pleased with my 10 Camaro.
