Just got a call from the chevrolet service dept, it appears they found the leak - evaporator core. They have the part on order but it won't arrive until next week.
He informed me they would need to remove the entire front windshield, and then take
apart everything just to get to it and this means I'm stuck in a rental until end of next
week at minimum. meanwhile...i'm stuck driving a F&^%$ng HHR clown car...
i don't like the idea of them taking apart my car - but i need the problem fixed...so i guess i have no choice but to deal with it.

I have similar problem, mine will get cool whenever it's turned on, however for a new car it's should be much cooler. Any clues with that issue

It seemed that every time the California Heat got around 90 degrees, the a/c would just blow hot air. I tried all the tricks with the knobs and switches but nothing worked. If you
are having this problem I would take it in - it's under warranty.
We'll see how she works when i get her back in 1-2 weeks - or whenever.
I just remember when i first got this car, it had the coldest a/c i had ever experienced.

I guess this is what happens when you pre-order a car, you get early production where all the kinks haven't been worked out.

My AC unit never cooled properly since day 1 on my SS however I lived with it that way. Also when idling, the power to the AC unit would fluctuate. I bet mine had a bad compressor too...

You should have a 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty.. The compressor would be covered if that is the problem. Take it to your dealer and if they say it isn't covered take it somewhere else and never go back..

I'm taking mine in this Saturday to be looked at. It does cool, but it just never seems to be "ice cold". My wife has a Lancer and even on the hotest days we wind up having to turn it down after awhile because it gets so cold in the car. This has yet to be the case in my Camaro. Even on the Max A/C and the outside air shut off, we can run it at full blast and never really get all that cold. It's not like we're sweating or anything, but it just seems like even at full strength, the A/C just makes it cool enough to be ok, not great. I'm taking TSB EI10169 in with me to prevent any kind of BS.

I would recommend getting a thermometer (0-80 F) with a long metal sensor tube out the back.
Stick the thermometer in center vent to measure how cold it is getting.
Mine reads about 43F at the center vent and about 50 at the side vents.
I had problems with cooling and took it in under warranty. Blows cold now.
