They aren't going to turn the Laguna Seca version to 8k+ rpm if it makes peak power at 7k.
we are ignoring the fact that this car is targeting the M3's performance,
the GT has virtually the same performance as the manual6 M3.
that car make dew with 420hp and 295fl.lb of torque and 8300rpm.
In the MT's comparo the main disavantege of the GT was its top end, the GT hit its rev limiter earlier than the M3 cutting speed build up.

When you look at the engine mods vs. the horsepower rating, it's obvious this engine is capable of more than 440hp and 7,500 rpm. They could have done that with minimal mods to the existing 5.0. This is essentially a 302R motor.

Just what the "red key" does, and what the final power ratings will be is anyones guess, but I think it's safe to say 440 is a conservative number.

I will repeat this one more time, for you too ultraz even though you deleted your post. . . The 440hp # is based on "preliminary data" according to Ford and no car is required to use sae certified power numbers, it is always optional. We will have to wait and see some dyno #s, but I would be willing to bet a few bucks that the car is putting down more than ~420rwhp.

Yes I believe the 440 number is closer to rwhp than crank.

I see the car making 420-430rwhp from the factory.

And you are correct on SAE certs. It is always optional.

I just wanted to say that I have no idea how much RWHP the Boss 302 makes/will make, nor at what rpm peak HP is, or even its redline.

That is all.

It's old, but since it was dug up....

I've owned a 2002 Trans Am WS6 and I currently own a 2008 Mustang GT (very close to the performance of the 2010 Mustang

Realitively equal drivers- LS1 wins everytime.

I've owned and driven both, I have raced several 05+ Mustangs with my 02 TA and I never lost.
Stock vs Stock with equal drivers = LS1 everytime.

Why does everyone think their car of choice etc. is special and under rated? SAE certification puts an end to this. If the motor is SAE certified it is not under rated. If it isnt...I agree...it could be under rated.
As you insinuate at the end of your post SAE certification put an end to nothing, as of 2010 the Mustang GT was not SAE certified and I have as yet seen nothing that would indicate that the 2011 GT is certified either (although it obviously could be...still it would be strange that Ford would go through the process and not attempt to use it to their advantage in advertising) The GT500 is SAE certified, the Boss 302?

with the information provided in this post i can, along with others, speculate that the boss 302 will indeed be underrated.

First of all, Ford is not going to SAE certify it. The 2011GT isnt, and neither is the 2012 BOSS. the boss will murder the 2011GT and camaro SS easily. anyone who thinks cams, higher compression, higher rpms, aggressive tune, and tunnel ram intake manifold is going to add only 23hp is on crack.

in a side note livernois has a 2011GT with the FRPP BOSS302 intake manifold running 11.1 @ 124mph on motor. that intake will be avalable after the debut of the BOSS302. i will have it.

I saw that about the Livernois 2011 GT running 11.1 @ 124mph. That is pretty damn amazing.

That exhaust is weird; two un-mufflered ports in front of the rear wheels and two "normal" pipes with mufflers out the rear...interested to hear that thing, especially from the cabin.

I tell you, it's got to be rough and expensive on those that just can't stand seeing another car with more hp come out.
