I did disconnect the battery... And I have about 2,500 miles on the Injen now.

Look at Jannetty's CAI performance test. The Injen long tube was the overall best performer, on an otherwise stock car. Quote:
My mpg didn't go to crap. In fact, with all my mods, my car gets better mileage now then it did before the mods. 23k miles on the car, most of those with all the mods, and I average just over 26mpg combined. I average 70mph on the interstate, where I spend 75%of my time. What is your city/highway driving mix? That could be your issue!

The biggest thing you can do is to keep your foot off of the accelerator pedal. Use the DIC and monitor your on time MPG. As soon as you give it any gas at all, it drops a lot. Use cruise control.

I'm about the same as you on my driving mix Mmray. I added the flowmaster exhaust and my MPG went up by about 2 mpg. I was seeing 26 or 27 combined - constanly... week after week. I drive the same every day. From home to work - then to lunch- back to work - then freeway across town to pick up kids- then back home again (more freeway). After the Injen I'm averaging 18 - 18.5 and that's mostly freeway. I've babied the car around for an entire week and still only got around 18. The Injen did deepen up the exhaust note a bit. But I'm seriously considering taking it off and getting one of the other intakes. I just don't have time at the moment to go reverse the install. |

As far as your mileage dropping like a rock, it sounds like there's an issue there. i wouldn't be happy either.

Just took a look at my connection and it shows no sign of leaking or weeping. Your connection to the tube is slightly different than mine. Mine is a little wider when inserted into the chrome tube. This I think is giving a better seal and gives about an inch between the injen black valve and the chrome insertion point. It looks like they changed the diameter of the hose from the valve and the chrome insert point.

You should then begin to see your mileage climb way over 19. You should be in 26-28 land. If it doesn't do this something's wrong.

Otherwise, Yes, I guess i'll use some sealant. Anyone know what Scrming used for the sealant? Would silicone work?

Could the MPGs tanking have something to do with the vacuum line coming loose? That's been the case for a couple of members who installed their Injen.
As far as the fitment of the oil diffuser, I haven't really looked at it since the install. It was hard as hell to put on there and very tight, though. I'll check it out and see how it's doing.

cool thanks! And which part was hard for you? Putting the rubber hosing on the oil diffuser or rubber hose in the Intake Tube?

Only folks who have had mpg issues had pulled the vacuum line fro the valve cover by mistake during the install. I bet if you search you could find pictures of where the vacuum line is loose.
