For those of us that already have the "Mobile 1" cap; I wonder if GM is going to offer an insert to fit around the hole of the beauty cover...

Even as Dexos oils become available, I will probably just stay with oils that meet the GM 4718M spec since I suspect that GM may be driven to the new spec by trying to meet the government gas mileage targets rather than protect the engine.
They may go to lighter oils and subsequently require more expensive wear protection additives just to provide adequate engine protection. I will be staying with Valvoline Synpower, which has already proven to have better wear protection than Mobil 1 using the standard wear test. So does Castrol EDGE. Already use Synpower in my Z06, and will use it in the Camaro, even though it is a V6. |
