You can see in the picture of the open gas tank door that it looks like it has a locking device. That was discussed alot earlier on.

If it's like my wife's car, it locks when you lock the doors and unlocks when you unlock. That's what it looks like from the picture. Then to open, you push on it and it pops open.

Just checked, the fuel filler door does not lock when the doors are locked. It is just a simple push/push design. There are GM cars that do have a Lock Pin that engages when the doors are locked, I think the Saturn VUE is like this. But the 1LT does not lock the fuel door.

Thanks Number3. I wonder if that is just on the LT or all are like that? Thanks for checking.

So I ran through the VIN on this latest car based on what I found with the #3 car. The VIN on this latest one (let's call her #33) is 2G1FS1EW3A9000033. Here is the info:

2- Country - Canada
G - Manufacturer - General Motors
1 - Vehicle type or manufacturing division - Chevrolet
F - Identifies the restrain system - Chevy/GM specific code
S - Identifies the series - Camaro (S for 1ES37)
1E - Identifies the body style - Chevy/GM specific code 1E = Camaro (1ES37)
W - Identifies the engine - Chevy/GM specific code (W = LS3 V8)
3 - Check digit to verify VIN accuracy
A - Identifies the model year - A = 2010
9 - Identifies the assembly plant for the vehicle - Oshawa #1
000033 - Identifies the sequence of the vehicle for production
as it rolled off the manufacturers assembly line. Starting with 100001.

Here is a good source for VIN decoding - 2010 not up yet

http://service.gm.com/dealerworld/vincards/

Engine code W is for the 6.2L LS3, Engine code V is the LLT SIDI 3.6L (on Number 3).

Thanks Number3. I didn't do too bad though with just some Googling and comparing your #3 VIN with that of #33.

they must be getting hard-up for letters because my engine code is W as well & mine's a 4.3. it's a whole different type of vehicle though, so that's probably why they can do that

Yeah, look at that link #3 sent. There are different decipher sets for cars and trucks.
