This is great news. I told you guys that the aftermarket would kick hard right when this car hit production. We'll be seeing parts very soon.

I can see it both ways...If GM was smart they'd release some of their prototypes to some of the major aftermarket players, so they could have time to develop products to be available right when the camaro drops. However, I can also see how this would probably hurt (although probably not much), their GMPP sales of CAI, headers and exhaust. Most hard core enthusiasts are gonna go aftermarket anyway. The convervatives out there will probably buy GMPP stuff so it can have some warranty.

IMHO GM needs to start being more forward thinking, if they want car's like this to be a success. Vettes, Camaro's, G8's and even Cobalt SS's are NOT necessisty vehicles, they are WANT vehicles. During times of economic hardship, like from now to the forseeable future, people are likely to curb the "wants" and just by necessities. Having said that, if they would work closely with youth (18-40 yr old) tech based marketing, they'd have alot more success. I think they have tried to do that "some" with this camaro, but they should embrace this ALOT more, if they want to sell cars.

Using Message Boards, internet (youtube), text messaging, etc, at least to me, more of the people who would be buying these cars, would know about and be interested about them. 95% of the time when I go to a dealer, I know more about the car than they do. These are niche cars, they need to adapt their marketing strategy to meet todays buyer, its a small piece of the puzzle to successful sales, but its a piece they currently aren't exploiting.

I must say that I'm impressed with the involvement of GMPP and Chevrolet in this message board, but I expect that other divisions are not so involved elsewhere. Additionally, more options are a must to keep kids from wanting Scions and Hondas for the foreseeable future. When people can put anything in their tC, it makes getting a Cobalt boring because they have to do their own research to find creative kits for their cars. If GMPP offered more accessories that could be installed in more cars, then GM would have the upper hand on the young market. The key is standardizing these kits so that they can be easily installed in a variety of different cars.

Yea but i think that alot of ppl young or older are like me and researching and all that is half of the fun when customizing your car and gives the feeling of pride that you did everything. So i dont think that it would really help the dealer out that much it would prolly end up costing them more money then it was worth
