GM (like all the car companies) needs to sell cars now. Which means they need to advertise and sell GM cars that are available and on dealer lots already. Advertising the Camaro now would result in potential customers visiting Chevy dealers only to be told general availability of the Camaro is still months away. Or cause some customers who might otherwise buy a different GM product now, to decide to put off buying for several months in order to wait for the Camaro. Some customers might even see the advertising and visit a dealership that still has allocations available and be informed that they can indeed order a 2010 Camaro, but with a $5K mark-up. Only true enthusiasts are willing to hunt for a dealer in order to pay full MSRP and still wait months for production to actually start and even longer for their Camaro to finally be delivered. Nothing good can happen by advertising the Camaro to the general public until the new Camaros are at numerous dealerships and available for purchase.

Well said ...... advertising is like P*ssINg against a tree.... some times it works and some times it splashes back at you.

What other brand new model of car have you gotten this much info about before production has begun? Believe me, once production begins there will be a lot of stuff about the Camaro.

The woman who contacted me is lucky that she got my voice mail. If she would have told me that on the phone I would have started laughing.

Ok so I have to tell you that the trip to the dealership was a bit fun... While Jim was busy trying to close a deal on a truck another sales person tried to question me about what happened. I told him straight up what happened...then he began to tear into my order, this is where it gets fun... "We're the oldest chevy dealership in the state and we're getting 18 camaro's. You'll have to wait over a year to get one if you dont order it." Then he asked me what color I got, and when I told him ABM he laughed at me and said that was a "chick color". I guess he wasnt around for the 25th anny's. . . He also claimed he owned the first mustang in America. Goes right along with the sales person that took my order. He claimed that he owned one of the FEW RARE Turbo TA's

So you're not going with Rockenbach, do you know who you will be going with, assuming you are still in the market?
