Wow, that really is very, very impressive! I guess that's Whipple's way of saying, "We don't need no stinkin' liquid cooling." Ha ha.

Due to the various alphabet soup standard organizations (ISO, etc), it's probably way too expensive for small companies like Whipple, Kenne Bell, etc, to become OEM supercharger and component suppliers. Eaton, on the other hand, is a huge, multi-billion-dollar corporation that has the money to become certified and remain that way through costly audits.

Nonetheless, I agree. Whipple supercharger looks awesome and appears to perform very, very well!
You're 100% correct about the kit and their std OEM offering. I should have have said, it's a wishful thinking but I can't help myself liking the Whipple more that the SC that comes on LSA.
What attracts me the most about the Z28, is that you get a more beefed up engine, upgraded suspension, better brakes, stronger trani and gearbox, better clutch, better cooling system and SC, all done by manufacture under warranty. To pull that through yourself (including forged engine) and labor, that's minimum of $20K on the top of a $36K car without warranty.
Otherwise I would get an SS and put a Whipple on it.

Ahh, gotcha. You're right, a Camaro Z28, much like a Shelby GT500, will be hard to beat in terms of a complete package, and it includes a warranty. Though, again like the Shelby GT500, I'm willing to bet you could add a big Whipple to the Z28 and make some serious power gains over the stock setup!

Remember though that unlike the LS9, the LSA is not completely forged, although it is lower compression and is set up for boost.

There is no delivery date for a Z28 or IROC so how long would you have to wait??? The car that is being built in this thread is here right now. If you are waiting for the fastest Camaro from GM then skip the upgraded 5th Gen and get a lighter faster 6th Gen, but then there will be the IROC / Z28 version of that generation...

Pete, I couldn't have said it any better. There will always be something better coming down the road. It's called marketing. They have to keep you coming back right? At some point you just have to buy something and enjoy it.

I remember when I picked up my camaro last September, some senior folks at GM told us the 6th gen will be 7/8 the size of the 5th gen while maintaining the same proportions. Do the math, that's about 400lbs lighter, right in keeping with its main rival. Funny how these product cycles work.

Thanks, I appreciate your help. It's going to take a while to get used to this much power. I definitely won't be driving in icy conditions. We're not done yet though. I'm picking the car up tomorrow.

I'll be putting on some more Pedder's components when Tim gets them in stock. I'm also waiting to see what Tim develops with his car. He has the Whipple on his personal vehicle and will be building it up. Once he finds the safe limits, I'll be modding mine.

If you aren't careful, you will need a JBD, shuttle, and arresting gear in your driveway....

Found a key chain for ya...

just to be the devil's advocate...$20k plus $36k equals $56k...pretty much the expected sticker prices of the z28...and there are shops that offer a 3 year warranty...just saying...and the LSA is unfortunately not forged

i have been considering waiting for the 6th gen simply because it is lighter...but i don't want the body style to change, i want it to look like the 5th gen just smaller and lighter....then the whipple to add to it

Trust me this thought has gone through my head several times. But the R&D and testing that GM is doing on Z28, can't be replicated by a local shop to offer me warranty. I've been through the modding over the past 10 years and literally spent over $100K on modes on different cars, but if the manufacture is going to have anything near, I'll give it consideration. 6th gen might be too far away and will have it's initial bugs...
I almost got on the GT500, but after driving a friend's car, I'd never touch that car, or I'll kill myself. Very unstable in corners with being live axle and front heavy. But thanks for the input!
