When I had a stock Lt1 Z28 it went 13.9 @100mph and was 3400lbs. It also had 340lbs tq. and 285hp. How a 305hp 280tq 3500lb car is doing over 100mph traps is beyond me espessialy since there is no torque production until 4000 rpm and it only has 2.73 gearing.IDk

Not to mention that the engine can and will spin to 7000 rpm instead of 5700 like a stock LT1. That allows the car to make use of the lower gears for longer (25% longer) and makes a substantial difference in the overall acceleration. For the mustang, Ford chose to use steeper gears (inside the transmission, not just talking about differential here).

A comparison between LT1 and the V6 mustang, both stock -

Gear........ 94-97 LT1......................................... Mustang

1st:..........2.66 (9.09).......................................4.24 (11.58) (14.03)
2nd:.........1.78 (6.09).......................................2.54 (6.93) (8.41)
3rd:..........1.30 (4.45).......................................1.67 (4.56) (5.53)
4th:..........1.00 (3.42).......................................1.24 (3.39) (4.10)
5th:..........0.74 (2.53).......................................1.00 (2.73) (3.31)
6th:...........0.50 (1.71).......................................0.70 (1.91) (2.32)

As you can see, especially in first gear when torque would play the biggest factor, the mustang has a significant advantage in gearing, even in the non-performance pack version. After 2nd, the difference is negligible between the 2.73 version and a stock LT1, but the higher rev limit will still make a huge difference. A 3.31 mustang will have a higher gear ratio across the board; roughly the equivalent of an LT1 with 4.10s.
- X

P.S. - Sorry, I forgot the OP is running an A4. Gear ratios for that are included below.

Gear..................Ratio

1st:..................3.06 (9.88)
2nd:.................1.62 (5.23)
3rd:..................1.00 (3.23)
4th:..................0.70 (2.26)

I agree its impressive, but it is pulling those times with the 3.31's, not 2.73's.. plus, it now has a very quick shifting 6sp auto, and strong manual tranny

I drove both the new mustangs, and the new SRT challanger and the new camaro. I ended up buying the 11 5.0 stick with track pack. The cheap interior was what made me not want the SS. I am very dissapointed, cause I waited for YEARS to buy that car...never did I think I would be in a mustang...lol... There all a good car, I love the LS motor, such a sick powerplant, but that new 5.0 is ridiculous with the 3.73 gears, I managed a 12.6 at 110mph and was only running street/strip tires, and was still chirping going into 4th gear... the fact that these new stangs are so light is amazing... Sorry didnt mean to hijack thread, was just sayin...lol.
OP, as stated, it'll be a drivers race, make sure you got good rubber or its over for you,

There's a video I saw somewhere but can no longer find it of a stock 2011 V6 pulling on a 03 GT Mustang with bolt on's. I wish I could find it. Here's a 2010 GT vs 2011 V6 video's, the 2010's were the quickest and most hp at 315 of the 3 valve GT's and I'd like to see a race a between the older 05-08 300ish hp GT's. I think the V6 would pull up top but who knows based on gearing.

No 2011 Mustang GTs have the track pack. It was an option on 2010 Mustang GTs. It became standard equipment for 2011 GTs.

This is how it should be.

Ok I haven't gone through the entire tread yet but I had to say something towards this retarded idea that the Z28 needs to compete with the GT500. In the history of the Camaro the Z28 never went up against the GT500, that work was done by the ZL1.

This now leaves us with a huge problem if the the Z28 comes out as a competitor to the GT500 because it leaves no room for a ZL1.

What are you talking about? They could still make the ZL1 to compete with the Super Snake. Realistically how many ZL1 were produced in 1969?Probably less than 50. I dont think they built the ZL1 to compete with anything back then because in reality it had no competition. Of course it should have been the fastest car in the world for how much it cost. The ZL1 was one of those ultra rare ultra exotic cars that GM dreamed up and built just to show that they could. If they build one again it will be no different. Think LS9 with 800HP and no powertrain warranty.

Kind of like the Cobra Jet and/or Super Cobra Jet that ford sales. I would love to see them do battle.

Not in Canada it didnt... My sgt's 2011 GT is a non track pac, no brembo's, no hood strut, 245 tires instead of the 255's etc...

now we are pulling the 69 ZL1 card. people dont realize its gross rated, and both the 2011 5.0 and the ls3 outpower one with factory power. a ZL! had 375 SAE net hp. no more.

Arguing over this information, at this point, is about as useful as debating whether or not Warp Drive from Star Trek was faster than Hyperspace/Light Speed from Star Wars.
