Many thanks for that pic, bigsquirrel... That was exactly what I was looking for to get my ABL mod done! All I need now is my LEDs(big thanks to 2SSRS on getting those), and I am ready to get it done...
For those with the IOM interior who did his mod... Was it necessary to sand the edges like you do with the silver interior? |

A side not to others performing this, there are 3 purple wires in that bundle, a light purple, a dark purple, and a dark purple with a white stripe. The one you want to tap is the light purple one.
Here's my pic where I separated it from the others. |

I know... its hard to tell from the pic but I have a little trouble telling colors apart, even with help from a prior post this was my fourth tap before I got it right. PS, if you do the light on both sides it's the same cable on the passenger side. now on to whats important, acorns, beer, beer, acorns, beer, beer, ACORN BEER!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would sell my Silver door panels to anyone for $150. Car is only 4 months old and they are in perfect condition. Please let me know if you want to make the purchase for the panels at a discount.

There are now TWO DARK PURPLE wires and one purple w/ white stripe. One ran right next to the purple with white stripe, and another was further back inside the collection of wires in the harness. The correct one is the one further back in the harness. Luckily, it was the first one I tapped. |

the light pipe is no longer avail thru digi-key, mainly because tyco doesnt make it anymore. i called tyco personally, and PM'd the author of this thread as well, it has been a while...since he may have had to find the source of the Light pipes, it is 5mm Low intensity, clear acrylic, fiber optic pipe. the LEDS from GM are only offered in ice blue or in orange. The LEDS are easy to get via GM and cost 13-17. the pipes are the hard part (for now) as for green on syn green, i have syn green door panels with green stitching and the LEDS are still ice blue, as for looking green itself, i have not installed them yet, but took the panels apart to understand the setup. so if anyone has an alternate source for the light pipes please post...the old tyco ones were about 46" long..as for taping would be nice if we had the plugs as well, mine was assembled in august '10. so pretty new...i saw some people got their pipe from SSRS, so i guess i am on the bandwagon as well...

I want to do this mod asap but had a few questions about which approach to take. Is the light pipe or the light tape approach the best way to go? Does one provide better results than the other? Is one color closer to stock lighting than the other? I would like some feedback from someone who has done or seen both who can provide me with some insight. Possibly a list of the advantages and disadvantages of each. Thank you in advance.
