How To Minimize Camaro Drool?

Caution: Long rant below, see bold and underlined sections if you dont want to read all thru the story.

For all you members out there that wish you owned a camaro (or mustang/challenger) at one point in time, how did you put up with it?

Dont get me wrong I love my car. Cameron is comfortable but quick in a straight line and sounds incredible. Only problem is she weighs 3700 LBS and even with my mods only pumps out about 245 BHP. Also it has a LEXUS 5 SPEED AUTO WHICH SHIFTS WAYYYYY TO SLOW AND SMOOTH FOR ME! My two best friends just went from owning a piece of junk avalanche and trail blazer to a 2010 GT and 370z (respectively) and both are manuals.

It should be noted that I am a huge car fan in the first place so naturally point out every fast car that I drive by and wish i had a clutch pedal every time my car shifts. But for the camaro these symptoms worsen . I find myself reciting the SS stats to my friends at least once a day, drool and point every time one drives by and have already selected my future camaro's paint job and mods (if i ever get one). I can also tell you that on a 4 hour road trip this weekend 8 camaro's passed me in oncoming traffic and 2 of them where SS.

In short I am obsessed and consumed by all that is camaro, which is why I am a member here in the first place. So my question is how do I put up with this want to get a camaro more than anything else in the world? Because unless I get some sort of miracle scholarship my parents cant afford college and a camaro. They said if i go to OU instead of all the other schools that I like that they would use the 40k a year that they would save to buy me the camaro of my choice! I actually considered going to a college that I cant stand just so I can have a camaro

I know that we cant all have our dream cars but the camaro is different. Id also love to have a V10 Audi R8 but that car is way too expensive and out of my leauge. But the camaro is within grasp! So to all of you that at one point in time dreampt of owning a camaro, how do you deal with wanting one so badly?

Great idea, already beat the game and have a camaro modded to hell (765 bhp) though. And I just tried playing it and it made me want the thing even more

My advice,

Keep reading everything you can get your hands on about Camaros.
Even though you love the 5th gen.. previous gens too.
Subscribe to the mags and spend some time here. Make it your hobby.

Then when opportunity meets prepardness, you'll be ready.

Oh and btw... Counting Camaros on the road, colors, etc...
Everyone has done that and you are not alone!

Just think how good you'll take care of YOUR new Camaro when you do finally get it! hehe

Mine was a dream come true and to be very honest...
My eyes swet a little when I drove off the lot in my new 2011 2SS/RS M6.

Enjoy your day!

Get a job and buy it yourself LOL……. JK

think of the time you wait as time invested and making plans. By the time you get done with school I'm sure they will still be making camaros. I had wanted a 4th gen camaro so bad but had to wait and get my life together first. Once I did I went shopping, Fell in love with a low mile 99 pewter TA and got that instead of the camaro. fell in love with the body lines on the TA over the camaro after seeing them side by side…. But once I saw the new concept in 06 i knew i would have one. waited and waited for the time to be right, for the car to be available to order and life caught up with me and it was out of reach. looked a little harder in early 2010 and then one day made the decision I was going to have one. After two weeks of searching I was able to find the exact one I was looking for brand new 2010 ABM M6 1SS, all black interior cloth… most wanted leather and I thought i would never find one but was able to track it down

Just dont give up, eventually the car you think about day in and day out will be yours

The agony of NON ownership

Since I bought a house last year, money has been a smidge tight. Now that I got a promotion at work, the SS is finally within reach. I read/learn so much here, i'll be set when I finally get it.

But yeah, all my friends know I want this car soooo bad. They all know the stats, seen the videos, etc... Im trying to convert my friend who is a Honda freak, but he is brain washed....

haha, I cant wait! 6-8 months of torture! I could afford the LT now, but Im holding out for the SS.

The wife and I quit smoking at the same time to afford ours. we found out we are saving so much that a rag top will be in the future for her! No we didn't smoke that much that all the money saved bought it but it was a $500 a month habit!!! what i am trying to say is look real hard at your budget, and you will find there might be some money for that SS. it has been real easy to stay smoke free all I have to do is go out in the garage and drool then drive!!! soooo worth it!

That is a GREAT incentive to give up the pack a day habit. Good Job and good luck. Now you just have to by some bibs to catch the drool.

Thanks for all the help guys, its not gonna be easy but I dont exactly have the option of getting one. Some of the stories were really heart warming.

But with that said... If anyone knows anyone in OK that would be willing to give me my first ride in an SS let me know

Go to OSU and stop being a big spoiled baby! Most of us had to earn ours and OU is for people who are more interested in football than an education.... just may .02 worth. ; )
