Whats the true break in procedure ?

Iv heard so much from diffrent people. Basically iv just figured it's a 2011 gm and I think they know how to make a relible motor? Iv been keeping it under 4k rpm with occasional spurts of power? I have 70 miles what do y'all think ?

There is a section on this. But there are two trains of thought on this. 1: nice and easy. 2: Hard pulls upto a certain rpm (don't beat it though).

I'm going for an aggressive break-in. It makes more sense IMO.

There really is no such thing as break in period anymore.....however with this car and all its awsomeness......LOL........Pretty much every does about 500 to 1000 miles taking it easy. I took it easy for about 600 miles then let her rip......You will notice the more power and quicker throddle response after about 400 miles.......

I tried to keep it under 4k for the first 500 miles and vary my speed. After that I gradually got more aggressive. Just use common sense.

This is one of those questions where you can ask 20 different people and get 20 different answers. Truth is...nobody really knows. If you have ever had the chance to walk into an assembly factory...you will see the guy sitting at engine final assembly starting the motors up and running the engines to redline in every gear before placing the motor on the rack for final assembly into the car itself. Most newer high performance cars come with synthetic already in the motor. I personally had my first oil change at 3,000 miles and it came out pretty clean. Personally IMO as long as you don't beat the piss out of it...you should be fine. Keep a regular scheduel for oil changes or wait for the dash to tell you to do so...it's your choice. Good luck

After about 5K you'll start to feel the LS engine loosen up and you'll feel like it has more power. It takes a bit to get these engines open.

My break in was about 500 miles of easy driving and then changed all the fluids (trans, oil, clutch, rear diffy) and then drove it like I stole it the rest of the way!

Give it a couple hundred more miles of normal to moderate driving. Not a problem to give it reasonable hell, you just don't need to be doing the extremes - long idling or redlining a green engine.

After a couple hundred miles, let it rip. At about 500 or so change the oil and rear diff lube. I see the owner's manuals now say to change the diff lube after break in and before competition use. Good that they are now recognizing to get the break in crap out of the rear diff before it sees hard use.

Exactly around 5,000 miles my LS engine did loosen up and become more responsive.
So yes there is a break in period.

I didn't see special instructions in the owners manual.

I asked a bunch of mechanics about changing the oil every 500 miles....they said if you want to piss away money, go ahead....

Like everyone else says, 5001 answers, none proven or documented -
