I"m glad someone else asked the question, because I didn't know either. New question. Is there really THAT big a difference between the V6 and V8's #'s? Less than 20 'digits'. |

Sorry, I guess I shouldn't have assumed people would realize.
"Rear gears: 327 in V6, and 345 in V8's" Does 18 'digits' really make for that big a difference? I understand the Auto-V8 is 327 just like the V6. So Auto V8- 327 Manual V8- 345... Is that going to make for that big a difference? I'm just curious is all. |

As for the differential (the numbers above). As you might know, those numbers reflect gear reduction. It's actually 3.27, and 3.45. What those numbers mean is it takes 3.27(or 3.45) turns of the input shaft(transmission) to turn the output shaft(tires) once. What this does is multiply power, and send it to the wheels to move the vehicle. The same goes for the transmission, except it has six different gear reductions inside of it. If you want more detail on the tranny, just ask. I made a post a while back with all the ratios and speeds, etc. I'd be happy to reference it. |

Sure thing -
1. Buy an SS 2. Call Richmond gear and order 3:90 gears 3. Toss whatever is in your car and insert 3:90 4. Go to track and rip off a sub 13 second run.

alright i got #1 covered. as for number 2, why them? And, why 3:90 gears? #3 i guess that's the natural order of things. And 4, i guess will be answered along with 2.
