I don't think it's actually in the article but the highest setting in the regular Boss is the lowest setting in the Laguna Seca. There are some other differences but I can't remember them all. I'll try and find the magazine that lists all differences and post them but there is more different between the two models than the red key.
The Boss has the same settings as the LS models, but the LS models have stiffer suspension parts, springs, bushes. Recaro seats are standard, Rear seat delete and X-brace as well. Torsen LSD, brake cooling ducts and Boss 302R front splinter are standard as well.

If he can't drive, and you can, then you'll win.

If he is stock, drivers race with a slight horsepower to weight ratio advantage to the LS3. If he is modded dont race until you are modded or you will lose.

The 2003 Cobras specs as reported in Automobilemag is "0-to-60-mph time; we recorded 4.9 seconds and the quarter-mile in 13.4 seconds at 109 mph." Now these cars historically responded very well to mods. So make sure he is stock. Otherwise, its a drivers race stock vs stock.

yeah ok... i've also seen magazines say that a 4th gen ls1 runs 13.8. Why would you trust a magazine?

terminator cobras are roughly low 13/high 12 second cars stock. big disadvantage for you, is that his car is 6 years old. Big chance that in those 6 years, a mod has been done to it, or two, or three. He probably just isn't telling you about it. And he's had his car for awhile.... that means he has a lot more time practicing racing his car.

If you have an L99, I would think of a lame excuse not to race

If you have an LS3, you are going to lose... but it will be close.

Car and Driver had it at 12.9 seconds. Stock for stock, a Terminator Cobra will crush an SS Camaro, be it L99 or LS3.

They are significantly underrated so beware of 390 hp claim.

Nay. Like said above 390hp is closer to what they put down at the wheels. An 03-04 cobra will make the same if now more power to the wheels than an ls3 and weighs a few hundred pounds less. It's a drivers race with an edge to the cobra.
