Ford came to Ohio State today.

Brought a Mustang 5.0L, Mustang V6 Convertible, 2011 Edge, Raptor SVT, 2011 Explorer, two Fiestas, a Taurus, and an Escape PHEV.

First impressions...

Mustang - I don't get what the hype is. Better interior? The door panels are still hard plastic. The center console is still hard plastic. The dash is a soft, rubbery plastic. Somehow that's a vastly improved interior...okay...the only high point of it was the dash. Everything else still felt pretty cheap.

Edge - For whatever reason, it wasn't unlocked. Looked decent, a little funky from the front end though.

Raptor SVT - Pretty cool, would be nice if the Sierra All-Terrain was upgraded to something like it.

2011 Explorer - Very nice car. Interior materials are top notch, dash controls looked cohesive and easy to access. The back door panels lose some of the quality materials that the front doors exhibited, but were still acceptable. Exterior looks like Ford hired the guy who designed the Acadia, but it looks pretty good. Only thing I didn't like was that they used black plastic on the rocker panels and in the wheel wells, sort of like what the Volt has. It stood out a little awkwardly in the white paint.

Fiesta - Again, I don't understand the hype. Interior was a sea of hard black plastic. It looks better than the 2011 Aveo from the outside IMO, but inside, the Aveo wins hands down just on looks alone.

Taurus - Old news.

Escape PHEV - Meh. Volt trumps all.

A group of Ford engineers were standing around while I was looking through the cars and I overheard one of them commenting on the fact that I was checking for hard/soft plastic panels and analyzing the overall quality of the materials and that I was the only student who had done that the entire day they had been there.

I did ask them what they thought of GM's new products and they all were very impressed with what GM has been putting out lately.

so what you're saying is you can't get your hands on a "special" camaro. . .

lol. we know you would if you could. and then it'd be. I'm not driving a camaro, and it's not special at all. . .

As I'm looking through all the spyshots we've accumulated of this car from the netherworld...I'm overjoyed to notice that not one of the prototypes is without Halo headlights. Some have the correct hood...tires, brakes, etc...but ALL of them have HID/Halo lights.

Standard feature on this model, perhaps? <=== me, begging.
