emissions testing

I was reading about emission testing for the state and came across this ..:

Do vehicles certified to California emission standards have to be emission tested?

No. The Washington State Legislature exempted 2009 and newer vehicles that are California certified from emission testing.

.. does that mean we never have to get our Camaros emission tested?

if so .. awesome, and how incredibly naive of them.

That would be too good to be true... but that's what it says. I'm having a hard time believing it!

I think they are misleading by using the california clean car act as a guide, and we still have to get tested every 2 years.

not entirely sure, just the way I read it .. made me think otherwise : )

actually any 2010 vehicle and newer is exempt from future testing, this is what the state ecology told me when he was in my shop a few weeks ago, there also doing away with gas cap testing in the very near future on all obdII vehicles

well the thinking is that the software in cars will pretty much shut the cars down to limp mode when there is a emission related failure, were not talking obdII here,2010 marked the begining of the next gen network software for obdII.Some manufactures have had it for a couple of years now its actually very cool.Im not saying you couldnt pull the cats off a car but most regular people wont and thats what there hoping.

Interesting... I hope that people will not abuse this to the point where emissions testing for the newer cars will be required again.

I'd like to see it in writing. But I have doubts.
