Mine just started squeaking at 14500 miles. I plan on taking my to the dealer but if I need to replace my pads i'm going to be pissed. It is way to early and I do not want to fork out 800$.

I've had mine squeek a few times, but only when the car is cold and the brakes are being lightly applied. It's not consistant enough to reproduce it if I took it to the dealer.

Mine started tonight. Mostly when braking and when we were moving at very low speeds. Its got to be the pads. But its never done it before today.

Mine started to squeak and I have 22k. I can't see paying 800 to replace pads. I just priced rear rotors and pads for my mothers Impala and the total was like 90 buck. The shop wants $289.00. DIY!; it's not that hard.

Well the gentlemen above said his dealer charged him $800. My dad changed my pads on my last car I'm sure we can do it on the camaro. But shouldn't a dealer just fix it little to no charge? Cause a car with 14k shouldn't have brake issues.

If you are still under warranty, and I think you are, I would have the dealer take a look. Breaks should normally last at least 3 years. Rotors seem to be made thinner these days and so when they do wear, there may not be enough to turn = toss and replace. 30 to 75 for slotted and or drilled. Pads run between 30 and 50 a set, depending on brand. Labor is the killer.

Well my dad has done the brakes on my car before but I hate asking him to do it. Hopefully the dealer covers it and I dont have to worry about it.

The dealer will cover it. There are redesigned pads that are covered under warranty. You guys should not have to pay a nickle out of pocket. Mine were covered without any problems and have not squeaked at all since.
If your dealer gives you a hard time keep pushing and go through the escalation procedure if they refuse. I did not have to resort to that since my dealer covered it without a battle. See my previous posts regarding squeaky brakes (on a LT, not a SS model.)

I've also noticed squeling on my LS that has just over 10,000 miles, It seems to be getting progressively worse...
Only squeals when brakes are lightly applied, hopefully I can get the redesigned pads and stop feeling embarrased driving in parking lots! :( |

Uhh have any of you tried to spray the rotors with some kind of brake spray? This is usually caused by the pads though. This is caused by vibration in the brake pads when light to moderate braking pressure is applied. The most common solution to this problem is to buy new brake pads.

I'm at just under 15,000 and the only time I get any noise is under the usual circumstances.

Yes, this is very common actually. This isn't really a big problem it's just annoying. There's this product called "anti brake squeal" you pretty apply this onto the surface of your pads.

Anti-squeal is applied to the areas where the caliper comes in contact with the pad. For clarification, this is on the BACK side of the pad, not the portion that contacts the rotor. Applying anti-squeal is best done when putting on new pads, so it is really not a time or cost effective cure to already squealing brakes.
